Recommendations Needed for Selling Junk Silver

Hi- I’m new here. My father passed away and left my brother and I his coin collection. I used to collect so I went through and pulled all the possible higher value coins but we want to sell the excess melt value silver. I like the idea of refiners that cut out the middleman. Someone told me Midwest Refineries (they pay (90% of melt) but I am hoping to find someone that pays a bit more and is nearer to me in Connecticut, so shipping would be quicker. . Can any one recommend a reputable refinery to send to? Thank you!!

A little more info of what you have would get you better advice.
There are buyers here on the bst.
You being new here with no history would require you to ship before payment. That may seem a bit sketchy, but with no history here most buyers will require it.
Hope that helps...

@Walker298 .... Welcome aboard. The BST (Buy, Sell, Trade) forum here is a good option to pursue. No fees, and reputable buyer/members. Good luck, Cheers, RickO
US 90% is trading at a premium due to current demand. Contact your local dealers for their current bids. Tell them the face value amount you have, they'll take your more seriously. Right now if a retail customer came in with 90% we would be paying spot bid -25¢x.715 for small lots and spot bidx.715 for better volume. If you had $500+ face should be able to get over spot from a good dealer. Dont send US 90% to the refiner unless its overly worn or damaged.
Thanks for the Welcome! Being a newbie I understood if I sold on the forum I'd probably have to ship before payment so I'd like to avoid that.
See my PM
Good luck to you

As long as your selling to a well established member you’ll be fine. You can always ask for references from that member of past dealings.
Please not not send it to a refiner for melting. They are worth more than being melted

I didn't know that spot -25 was the going rate, that's good to know, thank you. Having an affinity to coins I'd really rather not see them melted..
Shoot me a message with what you’re looking to get rid of. I’m your neighbor to the north in Mass. If you have anything of interest to me, I’d drive down and meet you in a public place. Pay cash and take shipping right out of the equation.

It really just depends on volume as its a small margin product. Whole sale ask has been anywhere from spot +25 to 75¢ in the last week. This has been for any deal from $50 face to 50 bags.
I pay more than refineries. So do most of us. You need to do a little more research.
Try craigslist, easy to get spot. I moved right about $450FV of junk this past week with relatively no effort. No fees, no shipping, immediate cash in hand.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate all the info; this has been a great help!
On the flip side, please accept my condolences for your loss. A lot of death and dying , sadly. The silver is not that relevant in the scope of life
