Thank you to everyone for your guesses and comments. I don't pretend to be an expert in grading gold, but the coin appears mid-AU both in the photos and in hand, with strong luster. It seems I'm not alone in that assessment. Though I wasn't looking to purchase a gold dollar in particular, when this showed up on a CRO EB last year, I didn't hesitate to pull the trigger based on the even color and overall eye appeal, combined with the 'O' mint mark, OGH, and CAC sticker. I paid high-AU money, and don't regret doing so.
Nice coin. FWIW I would have guessed AU55 shot AU53. I'm surprised that it didn't receive a gold CAC sticker.
