The flat appearance and no evidence of split serifs (that I can see) are characteristics of mechanical doubling
Yep, looks like mechanical doubling.
Doubling does not necessarily mean doubled die.
Virtually all doubling you will find will be mechanical doubling.

Looks like a shelf. I'd say it looks like MD
