I've been looking at Johnny Unitas cards recently to possibly add one to my collection. He was my dad's favorite player. I'm looking at all years both graded and non graded. Just looking for something nice. The 1970 Topps Unitas card struck me as a nice looking card. I would love to hear anyone's preferences out there. Thank you.

I like the 1958 and the 1972 topps.
Obviously the key card is the RC.

Any Unitas card would be nice.
A point is most of his cards are #1 in set. in older cards with rubber bands that means they usually are lower grades and if not relatively expensive.
I would suggest the 1965 Philadelphia. I has nice color and his trademark haircut.
Here is a link to my Unitas set so you can see all of them at one time,

Nathaniel, in looking at a complete Unitas set just now I have to say that 58 is one of the nicest!
One heck of a nice Unitas set Jay!
Pick it up if reasonable!

This thread needs the 58. One of my favorites. mid-grade but love the eye-appeal.
For some reason I like him better with his mouth closed.(Teeth problem?). Since I'm an old guy , I'd go with the 58 all day long. great Quarterback . Listening to the T.V. broadcasting of the 1958 Overtime game against the Giants, (Unitas to Berry) brought my mom and millions of other female viewers to the N.F.L. and the Baltimore Colts.
The 1958 is my favorite from a visual perspective. Of course, I am a bit biased towards my rookie Johnny U. Another one I have always been a fan of is the 1961 Fleer.
This one might be a favorite of anyone who is intimately familiar with The Great American Flipping, Trading and Bubblegum Book. That book seared a lot of every day cards into my brain as a kid, like the 1964 Phil Linz or the 1951 Bowman Sibby Sisti.
I knew where that was going before I even scrolled down
Johnny and Namath were my childhood Football heroes. All of his cards are pretty cool but I would single out the '58, the '65 Philly and the '72.
Is his hair too tight?
