Great picture. Nice coin too.
Fantastic image!
Great image, well done !
Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.
I always thought that was a neat variety. I have both the "D" Mint small/large and the proof version.
nice image!
i know what you can do, so i'm holding out for the 3d close-up of that date at an angle.
did you have to stack or does your method give such sharpness universally across the entire surface. not an easy feat, especially zoomed in.
the resolution on this is super impressive - nice looking obv - would love to know your capturing + processing methods if you'd care to share
Very nice imaging!

I have not shot the coin in 3D yet, but now that you reminded me to do it, I probably will. It is certainly a subject worthy of getting really up close.
The high resolution technique I use is with a 2x super-lens, so while the resolution is very good, it's still limited in what I can do. Stacking is for sure required, and since there are no reasonably affordable cameras that can do such an image in one shot, I must also stitch. These images require 6 tiles, each with 12 stacked shots, total 72 images stacked and stitched together. I could buy a Fujifilm GFX100 and shoot at 1.6x, and end up with a 76MP final image, but the camera is $10k. I could get a little better resolution from a Phase One XT IQ4 Trichromatic, shooting at 2x like I do now, with 113MP output, but would cost me $56k. Much more economical to use my old 18MP canon and stitch these together, even if it requires 72 images!
Anyway, I'll shoot the coin again for 3D and see how it comes out...

Great images of one of my favorite varieties.
I will echo what others have said-your images are top notch!
thanks for sharing - great to know the tiling and stacking can have such incredible results
can't wait to see that!
Great images of an interesting and (somewhat) underappreciated Lincoln Cent variety.
I mean... what's not to like....DDO and great RPM!
Die state is important for this variety. Variety Vista lists four different die stages.
The zoom effect nicely shows how really fouled up the '6' and '0' are.
What is that back on the high shoulder/collarbone? A strike through?
i was thinking abou tthat while viewing all those intricatly overlayed scratches/polishing marks/gouges which are exceptionally fun to look at with this quality of image.
i've never had an eds.
This one is Stage D. It has what looks like another "6" that is described as a "die chip in upper 6 of date".
No, that feature is raised, not incuse, so it is likely a die gouge. I guess there might have been a hard piece of metal that was struck through on an earlier coin, and damaged the die. When folks describe a feature as a "die gouge" it encompasses a broad range of causes for the damage.
Even though this is Stage D, this coin was struck relatively early in the die life. Look at the lack of die wear at the field at back of neck and at throat, and between the letters of IGWT and the rim. The earlier stages did not last very long, which explains why they are rare.

Nice picture!
Terrific looking photo! The quality is simply amazing.
How long did it take to do these 72 images and then stack and stitch them together?
Thanks for sharing. Donato

I'd love to have an EDS (Stage A) of this variety. Mine is a Stage C.
These take about 30 min to take and process, so I'm only doing them for "interesting" coins.

Incredible image... The finite detail is amazing. A lot of work, but the final product is worth it. Cheers, RickO
If there was a coin show , I would bring all 4 die stages from my collection
Since I’m not computer able to make images and post them it will have to wait
This is also one of my favorite varieties being the only double die and repunched mint mark variety.
David Hall is also a big fan of this variety !
That's an amazing image!
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
Wow. Awesome detail in that photo.
