Next Friday will be 01-01-21, believe it or not. So this is the last metal porn of the year.
It's been one hell of a year and I'm not sad to see it go.
But I did pick up some pretty great additions to the precious metal stack this year.
Here are some of my favorites. What were yours? Let's see if we can make this a heart-pounding, mouth-watering METAL PORN THREAD!
Emirates Gold (Dubai) 1 kilo .999 silver bar. 1990s vintage, I think.
Assorted turquoise and silver jewelry by Guadalajara silversmith "RMS", circa 1950:
Mid-century modern cigar ashtray by Salvador de la Serna:
50 ounce .999 bar by Sheffield Smelting:

I finished this set earlier this year:
Stock pics as I could never take them good enough to show the detail..The first one is the obverse of them all. The reverses are all different. (7) total in the set.

@TPGS .... Looks like a bunch of CAM's and even some DCAM's there....Cheers, RickO
DCAM doesn't really matter post 1972. I'm a proof set serial killer.
@TPGS .... Not even a PR/MS70 DCAM?.... Cheers, RickO
2020 was a good year for bars:

Great bars, @asheland. What's the story on the Sunshine bar?

Good point ricko. I'm sure their are a bunch of PR70DCAMs in the rolls. I carefully broke up like 175 1992 silver proof sets. Keeping the silver and selling off all the proof 1c and 5c.
I'm not really sure to be honest, they are scarcer and I believe it's the same Sunshine as now, possibly from the mining side of things... Not really sure, I couldn't really find anything specific on it...

I'd never seen one before. That "1984" date is very interesting!

Those are cool, it reminds me of the 100oz handy and harman where the actual date is stamped on the bar.
Here is one from the web that was apparently made on February 10th, 1984
It's all about what the people want...
Added a few more Fosters to the collection last week...

Loves me some shiny!
This was my favorite bullion purchase for 2020.
Sequential serial numbered 5 oz. poured Engelhard bars courtesy of fellow member, Meltdown.
These are just super cool!

Great story that doesn't hold water but.......
_HOFFMAN & HOFFMAN SILVER ROUND, "UNICORN".CONTAINS 1 FULL TROY OUNCE OF SILVER! A vintage round, much sought-after in Europe!Issued to pay the costs of the famous Hoffman & Hoffman trial.When the US government defaulted on payment of silver certificates in silver bullion, Hoffman & Hoffman, (a law company), launched a court case against them. They lost the case and were left with huge costs, so they took the silver metal off the edges of the huge number of silver certificates in their possession and melted it down, creating these stunning rounds in 1981. The obverse has a simple design of a unicorn leaping over the H&H logo, whilst the reverse states clearly that this is a one troy ounce round made in 1981. This round is made from a full 1 troy ounce (31.1 grams) of .999 purity _

Hello there. I'm a newbie and though I bought 1 oz of silver early in the Hunt brothers debacle 😆 I had given $ to a coworker who was buying some for himself. How do you go about safely buying bullion? Also, some of these bar collections are spectacular. How does someone safely buy the older, larger bars and when do you know if it's a decent price? Is "spot" price the existing market quotes? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm tired of just thinking how nice it would be to have a few of these and am interested in actually buying some. 😁
A nice love affair for sure
