Pleasant Buffalo surprise!

Hope everyone's staying well! I worked out a deal for a decent sized lot of silver bullion, including a complete Canada Maple leaf Dansco and a stash of old Barber and Walking halfs, and standing liberty quarters. It is silver/gold hoarding that ultimately turned me to coins in the first place so I've worked out many deals like this, but I think this one is a bit special.
This couple was piecing out a father in laws collection, which appears quite extensive. I wasn't able to get her to part with some of the other Danscos (yet) but I was able to get an almost complete HE Harris buffalo nickel book. This was essentially a "throw in" on the silver stash, but I am PLEASANTLY surprised with the condition of the coins inside. I may share pics of some as I dig in....but here are a few pics to start out. Quite a book!!

A much better than average "folder" set. Those are usually full of coins with only two digits of the date visible.
That's a great set!
Proof Buffalo Registry Set
Capped Bust Quarters Registry Set
Proof Walking Liberty Halves Registry Set
Absolutely!! That 2-digit variety is what I anticipated in taking it as part of the deal....but I figured even very worn versions of the key dates have some value so why not. Now I'm likely going to send her some more cash! I'm not the type to take advantage....especially when someone is selling off a collection that clearly took time and care being put together.
Right off the bat....the 1913 Type 2 and 1913d Type 1 look to be in AU/UNC shape. The P looks like it may be worth a slab even.....and the D has some great rainbow that was hard to catch in quick pics but you can see it in the book pic above.
The 1913p is one of the cleanest Buffalo Nickels ive seen in my short hobby foray so far. Could it be a proof?
Nice!
Swell Buffs. Me like 'um.
Nice book! The 13 P comes very nice. Yours is a business strike. It looks a bit lack luster to grade above 64 imo, personally I’d leave it in the book.
Since you essentially paid nothing for it I could justify slabbing.
The 13-D looks like a 63 with pretty decent color to boot.
Me like 'um too Chief Hydrant Plug.
Pete
omg
wow
Good for you for sending a bit more money to the seller since it was better than you expected.
Little things like that make all the difference down the line.
TurtleCat Gold Dollars
I like the 26 s buffalo nickel
Yes, I wholeheartedly agree, and have done so myself.
That is a very nice Buffalo Nickle collection....Cheers, RickO
Thanks all for the feedback. This is pretty fun going through! I see a 1914/3 as a known error in the Philly mint, but I dont see that error logged on the 1914 Denver mint coins. This is the 1914d in the book.....
I like the one with the full date. Nice herd of buffs!

And whats up with this 1917D? Is this just corrosion/environmental damage? Or is this reddish brown color a mint error?
For sure corrosion. You might soak it in acetone and see if any of the stuff comes off but I have my doubts.
Quite the acquisition. Congrats! I really enjoy studying the buffalo nickel set. I know you're enjoying this accomplishment. Merry merry. Peace Roy

That is a nice set. My impression of the 13-P from your pictures is someone used nickel bright on it.
Happy New Year all! Hopefully 2021 looks a bit better than its predecessor.
Wondered what your opinions of this 1925-s are.....is this an S/S mint mark error coin? Tough to get decent pics....
As always, thanks for your time!
The '14-D and S over 13 are of little interest and little demand. The underdigit is weak and hard to see, especially on the Denver Mint coin.
