High grade JACKPOT?
Hi guy's, I was going through the PCGS Price Guide and I was focusing on the Statehood Quarter's. The first state, Delaware. The Delaware Philadelphia. In top grades, 68 and 69. BIG MOOLA! Somebody actually sent their's in. Lol. To my surprise, in a ms 68, $1200. The ms 69, forget it. Now I realize the PCGS Price Guide is just that, a guide. They have the ms 69 listed for $14,000! So, I decided to check a roll out, just to see if I can find anything close. I did not. Probably pretty scarce to find in a high grade such as what they have listed? However, I did come across 3 interesting ones. She only charged me $1. Check them out. Does anyone notice anything?

Yes! But you are 1/3 correct. Lol.

Yes, all three are the "spitting horse ".

Here I thought you were on to the fact that there was some dude on top of that poor horse! But instead you are complaining that the Horse is spitting mad!
The three Amigos are gonna party like it's 1999?
Lol. "Badges? We don't have to show you our stinking badges!"

$14k for an ms69?
I think I’ll be content with a raw 65 for a quarter..... without high mag, most people wouldn’t notice the difference.
Does anyone know what kind of horse that is? .......................................................................................It is a quarter horse.
There has to be thousands upon thousands of rolls of these out there that were saved.
Lower right looks to be the best condition of the three.

I think the Kentucky horse is dewing the same thing
Those quarters you posted would be lucky to get 65
Did not realize the SHQ's have such value in high grades.... Cheers, RickO
A lot of moderns do, some can be pretty tough to find in high grades. IMO It's only going to be a matter of time before hundreds of MS68-69 state quarters come out of the woodwork and dilute the pops. So many people saved these things.

@ChrisH821... Good point, a lot of rolls were purchased and put away. Jackpot prices will bring them out. Cheers, RickO
An MS-68 sold for $960 in Dec-2018, so $1200 is not completely invented.
Only 1 MS-69 had been graded at that time, and it has not appeared at auction, apparently.

Yes, RickO, I am aware of this market. Which, explains the fact I have a few moderns in my inventory graded by our host. Hoping and chasing those high grades. Very risky in the pocketbook trying to reach those levels. I have a few that just missed by one grade or two for the BIG value! Here are a couple.

My 2000d Jefferson. MS 66 FS. Two grades higher would have brought $300
My 1974d Roosevelt MS 66 No FB.
Two grades higher would have brought $750. Even without FB
My 1965p Washington MS 66. One grade higher. $425

Here's one more modern

My 1968s PF.66 DDR Quarter / not Cameo
ONE grade higher would of not only brought $275 but would have placed my coin in the highest grade for that variety.

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.I looked through a few rolls of the Alaska quarter when they were released. I would say that the majority would grade 63-65. I sent the two best ones in for grading and they came back as 66 and 67. I thought I had a chance at the lofty 68 grade but no luck that day. This was before the invention of the + grade.
You didn't specify whether it's a p or d? I see if it was the Denver, in a 68, would have brought you $650. If it was a p Mint, it would have brought you all alone in the highest grade for the Philadelphia. Nice try.

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.West coast Denver. Picked up the rolls from the local bank.
Not to mention Mint sets.
Only "two grades higher"?
For the Alaska coins the mint set had that odd Satin Finish that messed things up. You only got the regular MS from bank rolls.
Ah, yes. The Satin Finish.
Sticking with the "Statehood Quarter" theme. I picked this up today. Nice coin. I think anyway. Does anyone know what that PL sticker is from? I do realize it probably is just another fly by night sticker outlet. Lol. The coin actually does have that "PL" tendency. Slight cameo. The PCGS price Guide has a ms 66 at about $25. I paid $10. I figured, why not, right?

The whole worlds off its rocker, buy Gold™.
There's a PCGS 66 on eBay for $10 (OBO, maybe cheaper) right now. An NGC 66 will set you back $9. I'm not sure I'd be going with the price guide value for this one. But then, that's just me.
Yes, moderns are rarely accurately portrayed in common grades in the price guides. It is often "whatever you can get".
But $10 seems to be about the right price.
Seriously or you pulling my leg? Lol
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.So it was the Denver. One grade away huh? I know how that feels.

Hey, minor but did you find any "extra claw" chips?
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.MAC only does modern coins, if I recall. Any sticker is as good as the person who does it. I'm not sure a MAC sticker adds any value, but it doesn't hurt.
"Modern Approved Coin", by the way. You can Google it.
So, it's a legit company? Meaning, ok and not bad like a basement company? Thanks

"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.I think that MACGE sticker elevates that coin all the way to $10.
Frankly, that is the first MACGE sticker I have ever seen. They must be pretty rare.

I'm thinking about starting my own sticker company. I could call it CSF. The dollar store has just the ticket
Seriously though, I seen a PQ sticker on a gold coin and that one was new to me.
Not "Coin Scratch Fever" but "Can't See Far" .
Lol. You see all these stickers now. Which one is the most reputable? Are these really worth many auction coins bear?

So would you guys consider Rick's, to be a laugher or legit?

"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line. Those MAC stickers are worthless. I just scroll past any coins that have that sticker when I see them on eBay. I wouldn't even buy it cheap, just because I would have to go through the trouble of peeling it off.
I'd put a little more stock in the cameo sticker from Rick. There are differences in the amount of cameo and he seems to have enough stock to pick out the good ones.
@ChrisH821 that is cool and I had a feeling it was something that carried some weight as I saw the sticker on like a $40,000 gold coin. Needless to say I refined my search to a lower grade :-)
>
I hate to say this because it feels like piling on, but just because a price guide says something, especially about coins that are rarely traded, doesn't mean that a coin will "bring" that price.
So would you guys consider Rick's, to be a laugher or legit?

Than this die gouge? Besides a few hundred dollars.

A Delaware quarter that would grade PCGS MS68 (or MS69) would most likely be found in a 1999 mint set where it has been sealed since Day 1.
I guess it's possible an MS68 specimen MIGHT come from an original bag, but a 69? - No Way!
Not sure if this helps @joeykoins , but if I had the ambition to someday "make" a top pop modern, I'd scour this site and others for the words of @wondercoin
From what I can tell he has commented informatively and prolifically on the subject.
