Rofles...what’s your view on which Mahomes would fit the 2k profile?

Any optic parallel in a PSA 10, or even base optic for that matter. It’s his only rookie with his helmet off.

    @Goldenage said:

You may be right, but he’s going to have a tough time competing with Tom Brady rookies.

I feel though you’re talking 2 different investments. And by that I mean, Brady rookies have taken off, yes. But when we look at the upside in these rookies, Mahomes rookies still have ALOT of room to run up, not to mention, his RPA’s are already competing with Brady’s.

Wouldn’t his “run up” depend on how many more rings he gets ?

Right now he’s Drew Brees like, or no ?

Absolutely, I I think it’s contingent on that. And if you look what he’s accomplished, he’s well on his way to do doing so. And that’s also what I meant when I referred to upside. The sun is setting on Brady. And rising on mahomes. Mahomes is gonna be the one I think who will challenge Brady’s post season records. The talent is generational.

His talent is unquestionable, but so is Brees. I can’t see Brees or Mahomes rising more than Brady in the future unless they get 4 or more rings. Brady could rise like Jordan or Mantle because everyone is seeing now that he and not Belicheck was the reason for the Patriots run.

Really can't compare Mahomes and Brees. Brees has played a lot longer, Mahomes will have to play at a high
level for a long time to compare favorably.
But at age 25 Mahomes already has an MVP award and a Super Bowl victory and could add another one of
both this year although right now I would go with Aaron Rodgers as MVP.
With Mahomes cards its both what he has accomplished already and what he has the potential to accomplish.
If he stays relatively injury free the sky is the limit and he could surpass Brady as the GOAT. That's how good he is.

Another guy to consider is Deni Avdija. I've seen some good things from him so far. Seems to be the front runner to win the rookie of the year as long as Westbrook actually passes the ball every once in a while.

I cannot hit curveball. Straightball I hit it very much. Curveball, bats are afraid.

The smart money stays with Brady. The speculative money goes with Mahomes. I guess it’s ok to have a little bit of speculative money in your portfolio/collection.

The safe money stays with Brady.

fixed. if mahomes goes on to be who everybody thinks he'll be, putting that money into brady vs him would not have been smart.

this steers the convo into ones own personal risk tolerances. playing w house money? go mahomes. using your day-to-day hard earned paycheck and still renting? go brady.

Soto is garbage in the field. He's a 2 tool player. Mookie is 5 like trout. Soto is more like Ted Williams, Trout more like Mays

yes, but soto is actually liked, unlike mays or mookie. imagine most 21 year olds are garbage in the pro field. and the saying goes "chicks dig the long ball" not the "glove".

I am still amazed how much top end baseball rookies pull in. I do have a serious question about some of the baseball young stars. Do the top Latin stars speak fluent English? I'm a boxing fan and I have felt that Canelo isn't as popular as he could be since he doesn't do much English language promos or ads. Even Trout doesn't seem to speak as much.

Do any of the baseball collectors think the top baseball stars could go even higher with even 50% of the NBA hype machine?

Who or what would you put 5k or 10k into for future value these days?
Mahomes is the first name that comes to mind but maybe he shouldn’t be.
    Luka
    Giannis
    Tua
    Burrow
    Tatis

Thinking about moving a few things to do some more speculating! Thoughts?

    Luka.

What he has shown in 2 seasons makes it clear to even a casual observer this kid is going to be an all-time great, and he's only 21.

Jayson Tatum. His first three NBA seasons from a statistical comparison were on the level of Lebron,Kobe & KD and two out of those three years where he was the #1 option on offense he led the Celtics into the ECF. I think he’s currently just a step behind Giannis & Luka as the NBA’s best young players.

Banks home a game winning three on opening night with the reigning Defensive Player of the Year/ MVP trying to stop him. ;)

Deciding between the Mahomes PSA 10 Holo or Red/Yellow. Relatively similar pops.

    Any opinions?

    Thx

  • blurryfaceblurryface Posts: 5,136 ✭✭✭✭✭

normally would go holo but since it's a chiefs card, i'd go red and yellow.

seems as if team color matched cards are starting to be a thing.

Thanks Blurry. It’s interesting because the Blue, Purple arent team colors but have higher values. Likely due to less made.

The red yellow has higher pop and is avail ~2k, while the Halo is 3500.

    Does that change your POV?

  • blurryfaceblurryface Posts: 5,136 ✭✭✭✭✭

nope. if and when the trend boils over to football, prices will surge quickly. if he continues to amaze, the holo will continue to see steady growth whereas the red and yellow will prolly explode in a relatively short period of time and then start settling just below holo prices.

Blurry....I am selling the below 5 cards to get a Mahomes PSA 10 Red/Yellow.

    75 Winfield PSA 9
    74 Schmidt PSA 9
    54 Rizzuto PSA 8
    53 Jackie R PSA 2
    70 Rose PSA 8

It’s the classic vintage vs modern dilemma. Like the deal?

are the top 3 bumpable? if they aren't, most likely considering they aren't rcs.

i'd keep the 53 jackie if the eye appeal is there. definitely the rose though before he does something else stupid.
