Because they were not prepared for you. Perhaps you could have them order some and that way you wouldn't take all their "dime rolls" that they thought they might need for the day or week or whatever.
Sorry for you. Many banks, along with many workers will provide. It's just finding those certain ones is the trick. Remember, You probably know this but you must be kind and polite when you ask. Some workers have a tendency to say "NO" just in spite. When the next customer comes in and asks the same worker, than they would comply. I have a couple of banks I have a good relationship with. They notice me as soon as I walk in. Keep on trying different banks. Good luck my friend.

Buying 6 sealed boxes of quarters a week from three different banks (standing order). The fourth that I was buying 2 boxes a week from is temporarily closed due to an outbreak.
Some banks are limited on their coin orders. It doesn't hurt to ask if they can order what you want. If so see if you can make it a standing weekly order if you need a box each week. Most tellers like coin collectors, they know collectors envy their job.

You are addicted - coffee and coins.
Just don't Roll Search and Drive.
Get behind me Devil. That's tempting, dang, Still have rolls I need to go through from years ago. I'll do that first before opening the flood gates. Good luck on your search.
Meanwhile at another bank, I was making all kind of small talk with the teller and she told me that a customer brought some coins in a while back. And her fellow worker noticed one of the pennies did not look right and he thought it might be worth some money so he called the customer who came back for it and allegedly ended up selling it for over 200,000.
Interestingly, I asked if that particular teller still worked there, just to see if my pennies have already been searched. He does not so I’m wondering who really sold it for over 200,000.

See what they say when you try to withdraw $10000 of your money in cash.
One time i needed to take out 4g from my local chase bank and the teller said no problem. She then ask what's the money for and i said drug's shen then smiles and gives me my 💰

Very unprofessional in my opinion for her to ask what the money was for.
It was your money.
I work in banking. We do not order directly from the mint and take in rolls from our member base when they are deposited. Contrary to the buzz about shortages, we have not seen any difference this year. When we have an over-abundance, we send bags to the FRB in Atlanta(and have sent a bunch as we usually do!) We have had plenty of the 4 major circulating denominations. To be fair though, we rarely have people ask us for large numbers of rolls. Most of the time it's a few rolls of quarters here and there....I'm guessing for laundry machines?

Often they are trying to help to understand if you are about to become a victim of fraud. For example, are you paying ransomware, are you being threatened... They can help in these situations.

Sometimes, while I'm shopping with my wife at Walmart, if I want to go home and wet my appetite for an hour or so. I'll ask the front desk for a couple of rolls of pennies. Guess what, 9 out 10 times, they'll give it to me. Lol.

There are several banks in my area asking its customers what the money is for, even for withdrawals of $2K. I refuse to use those banks.
A year or so ago I withdrew a few thousand $ from one bank and was politely asked, during the normal chitchat, "that's a lot of money...........what's it for?".
I politely told him "If you ask me again I will withdraw the rest of MY money"
To go against the flow.
Why don't you roll searchers take a couple of month break during the "supposed" coin shortage?
You are not helping the situation and it is tough enough for many businesses to operate without having to worry about "CHANGE".

I can say definitively that the local Piggly Wiggly was there just 30 minutes before you and picked up 4 boxes of dimes.
South American drug lords suck...they ruined it for everyone else.
I found that I need to give them at least one day notice.

It will happen suddenly
Could be.
You only had $20 ???
You should walk in with a box of dimes and ask to swap them out and see if you get anywhere.
I did ask why. They said there was still a shortage. I don't really buy that. That why I asked why.
Yep ... my wife gave me my weekly allowance.

Next time try wearing a bandana for a mask and pass her a note.
Might have gotten attention pre-March 2020.
Now, we all look like that.

And then when I said it could’ve been a 69 S Oddly she said yes that’s what I think it was.
Yes, good point.
Try walking in WITHOUT a bandana or mask and pass her a note...

it helps to visit the chocolate shop before going to the bank asking for favors

I hadn't thought of that.
Must be a small bank.

Could be the melt value of the clad content is now worth more than ten cents and everybody is hoarding dimes.
