Less can sometimes be better and the past year has seen me sell quite a lot of my collection. Coincidentally, PCGS returned a submission in a 10-coin Box so I decided to whittle what's left of my encapsulated SC$'s down to what I intend to hold for the long haul which will fit in the Box.

    That's an amazing collection @keets!

My first thought when going through that is that you need all ALL-BRONZE set! Those are beautiful!

Perhaps you can a have a Box of 10 Bronze and a Box of 10 Not-Bronze?

this is really frustrating, the image editor has the images screwed up and won't let me upload the proper images. stand by....................

If you’re going with 10, those are 10 great keepers!

Nice items in nice condition! The 1939 New York World's Fair is exceptionally nice in that condition. I recall that back in the 1980's a hoard of those were put on the market. All were Unc. but all had been harshly cleaned and were covered with hairlines. Thankfully, yours is not one of those.

    All glory is fleeting.

you know, that's exactly what struck me about that medal and made me stretch to own in. there are a lot of them available but almost all are white, over dipped and forgettable. David Lawrence is offering a nice one right no.

What a fantastic 10! I think my favorite (hard to choose) would be the Columbus. Bravo for choosing quality over quantity too. It seems that philosophy is counterintuitive to many in our hobby.

They are all great, but my favorites based on the photos would be the bronzes:

    • Continental Currency
    • Groton Heights
    • Albany BiCentennial with Seal
    • Louisiana Purchase

Will you be adding any more? And if so, will you sell to keep the collection fitting into the box?

I've been collecting SC$'s for a little over 20 years now and have changed my approach since the beginning. I am now choosing to collect designs I like instead of by event or theme. early on I really liked the Art Deco theme associated with the 1933-34 CPIE medals, medals by Thomas Elder and the Bickford Dollars along with some of the medals with a monetary connection. I still have some of those but they are mostly raw. I also tended to buy on a whim when I found something well preserved for the right price. discipline has been hard to attain, but I now tend to be focused on a much narrower part of the HK catalogue.

also, I've moved to larger medals. I think that has something to do with age and receding eyesight. :D

Great looking group Keets! Is the 1892 considered a Columbus though it doesn’t mention him?

love love love the 39 world fair medal. My dad tells me stories about seeing the first TV he ever saw at that world's fair.

that would be Eglit 101. it's listed in five alloys in "Columbiana" (Silver, Bronze, Copper, Gilt, Aluminum) and I think there are White Metal and perhaps others: listed in four sizes of 90mm, 50mm, 36mm and 28mm. this one is Bronze 36mm.

I like the two bickford tokens. I have one and would like to find the other type to go with it.
