1916 Standing Liberty Quarter?
I need some help dating a 1916(?) Standing Liberty Quarter. I found this quarter in a roll of junk silver that I purchased. When I look at this quarter long and hard (perhaps I've been looking at it a little too long and too hard) I think I can see the bottom of a "6" in the date. It looks to me like the "eye" of a 6 is visible. I don't collect this series. Do any of you here who are more experienced with Standing Liberty Quarters think this is a 1916, or just a dateless SLQ that needs to be returned to the junk silver jar? I have some vouchers and I'm thinking of taking a chance and sending this in for grading because a 1916 SLQ in any condition is worth a heck of a lot more than junk silver, but on the other hand I don't want to waste a voucher either! So...any opinions? Thanks.

Nope! Its a 1917.
The rivets in the shield are way to strong.
I find that is the best and most definitive way to tell the 16 from the 17. Look at some other known examples and you can see the difference.
Well that was quick and easy! Thanks for the response.
As was posted above, it’s a 1917.

Sorry I wish it was a 1916! That would of been fun.
Certainly worth asking for help on such an issue. Better luck with the next one... Cheers, RickO
