New pics of a toned lincoln cent using Canon's EOS 3 Utility app.

Never been able to capture the color in coins very well, as most can attest to. Using my Canon Rebel T6 with a cheap knockoff macro lens, I used Canons SW(it is great and I truly thank YQQ for his help) and was able to capture most of this Lincoln's color. I know the lighting is probably not the best but I was using two OTT lites and a camera stand and was able to capture quite a lot of this coins color. Let me know what you think.

I can't judge the color, since I haven't seen the actual coin, but I'll take your word that you are getting closer.

    Did you use autofocus?
I remember at first I thought using LiveView was to help me do manual focus, but you still see less on the
screen than in the full photo, unless you use LiveView to temporarily zoom in.
Anyway, I always use autofocus with LiveView now.

With a normal macro lens, you can pretty much fill the sensor with the coin.
Above is a half dime shot with my Canon T2i (an older camera than your T6), and the earliest version of the 100mm macro lens.
I used autofocus, and Custom White Balance.
My shot could still be improved - it is a bit out of focus on the left side.

Color is nice but the focus is a little fuzzy.

    @yosclimber
I'm just learning to utilize EOS 3 and its great but got a lot to learn as I am just learning the camera at the same time as the sw. I'm using autofocus but will try manual at some point in time just to learn the feel of it. I do not use LiveView to temporarily zoom in. I will be getting a true macro lens as soon as I am financially able to do so.
    Thanks,
    Jim

You can get the first model Canon 100mm macro lens for $120 used on ebay from sellers in Japan.
You don't need the $800 USM version to shoot coins - it has a "quiet motor" that people use for shooting wildlife.

As luck would have it I made an offer on a Canon EF 100mm F2.8 MACRO AF Lens and they just accepted it. So next week I should have the last needed component for my camera. At least I hope.

If your cent is purple (as it is on my screen), then that is a good picture. Cheers, RickO

    It is indeed pinkish purple.
