The 1937 five pounds Proof coin was my favorite foreign purchase. It was the next to last step in the completion of a George VI coronation set. The last coin I need was the half sovereign, which I acquired later.
In second place was this Julius Caesar / Mark Anthony denarius. It's off-center, but it is well preserved and the portraits are nice. This piece was struck less than a year after Julius Caesar was assassinated.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

A very attractive JC + Antony denarius indeed - and it looks like it should have a pedigree with that toning.
I've posted it elsewhere but will spam it again here: my favorite purchase of the year was a substantial upgrade to my Eid Mar denarius (increasing the tension in this thread by having both Brutus and Julius Caesar represented):

Always hard to narrow it down. Plus I've been WAAAYYY delinquent in photographing this year. That said, this is one that has eluded me. Low mintage and hard to find in any condition. My photos tend to over accentuate the flaws. Has beautiful luster and a lack of big marks which is an achievement. Yes there are better out there, but not by much, and I never see them for sale (one with a better grade was for sale recently, but I did not like the look...this may be more lowly but my eye prefers it). In any case, one step closer to completing my obsession with the Zog coins (non-provas). A couple minors I can't seem to find and one of the big gold ones. After that, they are non-existent despite what Krause says.
I have a few more coins/medals that compete for favorite, but this is my photo'd one. Will have to play catch up for the rest. My annual renewal of the same New Year's resolution--'get more organized, finish up my website, take more photos'. Never happens.

This is my favorite Trueview image ever of one of my coins... this needed to be edited to add that limitation.

Going slow on my Vicky Penny Set. Added this coin from Atlas in the summer.
