Is one of these a 1916d Mercury dime?
I am new to this forum and I and trying to determine if one of the extremely worn mercury dimes in the picture are a 1916d? These coins where in a collection from an older gentlemen who hasn’t seen them in over 20 years and as part of a larger sale I paid melt.
The center coin is a 1916s for comparison purposes. I know the 1916d was produced with four different dies. The lower position of the mint mark of the two outside coins is lower than the 1916s and thus I think one or both could be 1916d which if they are, even in this poor condition, could be worth a couple hundred dollars.
I don’t want to waste money so depending on your feedback will determine if I will send these coins in for grading.
