The silver coins seem to not be affected like the copper and nickel coins. The copper cent is toned on only one side which would seem to rule out the coin being gassed. So.......I would tend to think that the toning on the cent and the nickel to be original, but unusual on the cent obverse. The cent reverse shows weird periferal spot toning but this could have been caused by a gaseous agent in the enclosure that was less dense than sir.
Weird that only the bottom coins are affected.
The cent is cool, AT or not, and if you could get it into a holder it would be a nice payday.
(Although extremely unlikely.)

I got gassed in basic training. It's was snot fun.
Hmmm I actually enjoyed that little exercise, the DS was pissed that I liked it. Back to the topic something is off but I'm not sure what was done to that poor Lincoln cent.

Gas or baked though? It's still in the mint set.
Yep. The purple on Abe's forehead is one giveaway.

if I were to AT them, the first thing I'd do is try to open the plastic caskit.
I once got gassed at the Baked Potato, and they almost had to take me out in a casket.

Edited - I was being far too kind to the bottom three coins.

Those sets can be opened.... and it looks as if this one was.... Cheers, RickO
100% gassed.
That happened out of the case. A coin that was simply gassed won't have sharp stripes of color. This one had something applied to the surface as well.

Yes AT and ugly as all hell.
That toning is certainly AT in my opinion. Case was probably opened and coins individually tampered with.
