+2, the toning makes it tough to judge from a photo.

The photo makes the toning look quite unattractive but I have to think that in hand under a light that the colors may pop some; as to the grade I would say 65*

I am in the 66 camp. Via the photos it does not look like a lot of marks on either the obverse or the reverse, maybe one by the lip on the obverse. Not a big fan of the toning as depicted in the photos and it might be hiding some marks that cannot be seen unless in person.

It's very tough to grade this with those photo's, that toning can hide a lot. Those fingerprints all over the obverse really drop the eye appeal to me, even if the toning to brighten up under a good light. Based on the images and my guesswork, I would go MS-64 tops.

  • android01android01 Posts: 306 ✭✭✭✭✭

    My guess is MS65.

I am guessing those might be textile marks on the obverse. Could be wrong though. :)

    mission: impossible

I'm going with a fingerprint as the pattern is generally bigger on textile toning.

Grade looks as if it could be MS65 - That being said, the grunge and tarnish and smutch make it totally undesirable for me....Cheers, RickO

65* and going with small textile mark and not fingerprint loop, arch or whorls. I think that coin sat in a bag with high humidity for a while to get that much color, although not the greatest obverse and the reverse has that terminal black toning over too much area.

  • Batman23Batman23 Posts: 4,999 ✭✭✭✭✭

With all that black stuff I can't see the surfaces. Are those marks in front of her nose or are those streaks? But those are definitely finger or palm prints on the obverse. The mark on the cheek is from a sliding finger. Are you thinking this is original toning?

Surfaces have very few marks. Reverse still cartwheels, obverse has more of a gloss look. These are auction photos.

None of it is black, there is blue, yellow, red, maybe bluish green depending how you see color. I don't see the marks as finger prints but I'm by no means an egg-spurt. I never stop trying to learn. The tuition wasn't much, so here's me in the kiddie pool. ;)

As long as you like it that is all that matters! I tend to follow the Ricko school of tarnish.

Hmm, I actually have a half roll of those. I'll see if I can find the photos.

Here are some pics with better lighting but couldn't get the glare off the plastic. It does show the color better.
