2020 Mint Sets Limited and no "W" nickel now

Just received an email from the mint stating that there will only be 213,000 2020 mint sets available this year. AND...there will no longer be a mint state "W" nickel in the set or any special nickel for that matter. Anyone else get the email?

Yep. This has been known for awhile.

Why don’t the mint sets and proof sets come with the innovation dollars? Also what about the Bush dollar? Too many separate sets.

    "uncirculated coinage"

the W quarters circulate. they should be included.

    anyway, too late now...

I think they do that since all these coins are available elsewhere and now the uncirculated sets are the normal circulation strike. Product limit is packaging based, mintage limit is coin based.

I was also wondering if there was a dealer bulk quantity SKU that has its own product limit... or maybe none.

the ASEs are sold singly to us, but there is a separate SKU for dealer 40 coin trays. a lot more ASE-S-mint coins were sold over the 200,000 single coin limit due to the 40 coin trays.

That stinks about the nickel. I bought the silver proof and proof sets, just to get those nickels.

Not on MInt sets. If it has the same packaging, it would come under the product limit anyway.

Mint website still reads "United States Mint uncirculated coins are struck on special presses using greater force than circulating coins, producing a sharp, intricately detailed image."

Thought I had missed something and was gonna cancel some enrollments. But no change since 2011.

Yeah sorry about that. I didn’t realize they used special pressure and different presses. Thought they were just circulation strikes. Maybe I’ll buy one now.

This is the whole reason I bought 2 sets! PL coins? We shall see. ;)

PL is in the eye of the beholder. ownership adds a PL and such.

they can be had in the sets no doubt but they aren't massively widespread.

    Don't bother.

I've tried everything chasing it, and I can't figure out what they're assigning PL to. I just sent a handful from mint sets with a note to screen for PL designation, and nope. The ones I sent would go DMPL at NGC all day long. Grades were also tight on this batch. Probably sending these ATS for round 2 of grading.

I'm hoping, more like wishful thinking, that the ones that did order the Mint sets (2020) will get the privilege for first dibs on the "special Jefferson " that first was included in the set. Whether they wind up giving it to us later or supplying us first buyers with a discount to buy? Like I said, wishful thinking, huh? Lol :D

Another reason for the 2-set purchase. So I can slowly take my time examining each coin for any potential variety/error. This way I can compare each coin with the other coin in the second set. ;)

Perhaps the W mint mark interest is waning now.... Well, not for me. Started with the '95W ASE, which I have, and then the dime.... etc. and finally the nickel. We shall see what the future brings...Cheers, RickO
