Is this a known RPM on this 1974 D penny??

    Sorry but that is not an RPM.
    That is strike doubling to the NE of the D
    Unclear if there is a lower split serif from the pics, yes if so but I do not think I am seeing that in the pics.

    Some coins are just plain "Interesting"

    Looks like machine doubling or strike doubling.

    If it was MD wouldn’t it also be on the date?
    Edit: I think I see some on the 9 now.

    Machine or strike doubling is a funny bird. It can effect some or all elements and skip others.
    Here is a strong example. Very strong MD on date and MM but look at the rest of the coin.

    Wow, that is extreme and yet no where else except possibly on the bow tie.
    The cud on the 9 would definitely make you wonder.
