Coin Album Frustration!

Is anyone frustrated by modern coin albums but me? I have struggled to find ones that have kept up with the changes that the US mint has made over the recent few years. Reverse proof strikes, satin finishes, various mint marks, privy marks, and who knows what else Ive missed or what the mint will throw at us in years to come. No holes for these additional coins! Ive resorted to blank pages that I can add on down the road, which isnt the end of the world, but Im sure more than a few of us here on the forum are a bit like me and a tiny OCD. I used to be a big dansco fan, but their stuff is dated and prices are ridiculous for used and insane for new ones! Littleton and Whitman are behind as well. Maybe Ill go back to plastic pages and hand writing on 2x2s!
Rant over!

My solution is is not to collect modern...stuff.
My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
Lincoln, Jefferson, Roosevelt and Washington stuff wont quit anytime soon! I have to admit, I have been collecting older stuff for some time!
Yep, a blank page in the back of the album helps to seat the oddballs.

Make a digital album and display your coins to your liking. Here's what they can look like, not quite like PCGS, but useable and with any windows program you can enlarge them as to the quality of the photos you use. Also you can view your coins without having to remove them from your storage, be it safe or SDB. Time consuming but once you get your template made, it's only a matter of inserting your coins. Be sure to use quality photos to help when enlarging them for viewing.

So, I collect moderns as well, and have issue with what the mint releases and the fact that it doesn't "fit" what exists for the albums, but, from a business standpoint, what do you want them to do?
New albums every year? How much do you think it costs the companies to do new albums and then, what do you want them to do with existing inventory when the new ones come out?
Best they, and we can do, right now is to have extra "blank" pages and tack those on at the end.
For my 2 Silver Eagle albums (Dansco and Intercept), I've had to break out the labeler and, while it works, it sure isn't pretty.....but I like it better than writing things by hand or just masking tape with writing.
For my modern cents/dimes/quarters, I just put in what I have in the blank pages. I've largely given up on the US mint for anything "current". I blame them more than I blame the album makers though.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
Yes, I also went the digital album route, these are customizable to an extreme, and I used TrueView photos of coins so they had a consistent, level-playing-field look. You can also share them online much easier.

Those templates look great but I don't have the ability to make them myself. Does anyone sell these I would really like to get ahold of some or I guess I could use capital holders for that same look but would require keeping the coins out of the SDB to look at them.
Same problem here. Initially went with blank pages for my Dansco, used my Brother brand label maker. Black print on white background. DID NOT like the look. Then I found black print on clear background. Looks alot better. One can also customize the variation " ERP " " Satin " " Privy mark " Just my solution.

it would seem a reasonable solution was offered in the first reply, but if everyone did that there'd be nothing to complain about.
I have the same OCD issues. I resorted to printing the extra dates on a blank page using clear matte Avery 18695 labels with the same Dansco font trimmed down to just the date. I think it came out better than I expected, my only regret was not having better eyes and a steadier hand to get them all perfectly straight.
@MASSU2 ... That looks great, best solution I have seen for albums so far. Cheers, RickO
Great job! It's not as hard as some think. Just time consuming. Until you make a couple of templates, then it speeds up. I built many of these for forum members in the last 10 years to include Crazyhounddog's beautiful Buffs and MLH's(Elbezaar's) wonderful, but mostly white Silver Commemoratives. I just got too old to improve as needed.
WingedLiberty1957,
I wish to tell you that your Lincoln Wheat Cent collection is one of the most enjoyable to look at as any I have seen. You should be very proud of this accomplishment. Thanks for sharing.

I would love to be able to print the set registry albums, but....they do not print properly.

Make your own?
Use a laser cutter (owned, local makerspace or service bureau) to cut holes in a piece of cardboard and two cover sheets.
Trim (or buy) mylar of the correct width for the slide.
Paste the coversheets to the cardboard with no glue on the slide areas.
Insert the slides.
I'm sure it would take a little bit of effort to get right, but once you've done it, it will be easy to keep going.
