I am not impressed. A 2.5 centennial will be nice but after all the "stuff" they keep putting on these quarters I think it will loose it's "specialness". Remember back in the 90s when all quarters had the eagle back and anyone that saw the 1776-1976 quarter with the drummer boy thought they had something special. It was neat and a quick thought of the 200 year birth of our country came to mind. The next one will be lost in a sea of "stuff" and hardly recognized as anything special.
I would like to see us go back to a standard circulating design. All this touchy-feely do-good stuff is annoying to me as a collector and one of the reasons I stopped collecting moderns and mint sets. Just my two-cents...
Well, we could redo the 1976 coins with a now 60-70 year old drummer ... (figuring he was 10-20 in 1976)... unfortunately lots to chose from in this crazy year of 2020
