Do you think the auction description is accurate

You'd have to ask Charlie Browne
Edited to add:
Sorry. @MFeld reminded me that Charlie passed away a couple of years ago.
If Charlie said that, it's probably true. Really great guy with a great eye. [Of course, we can't know whether he said it or not.]
That toning is ugly. I doubt if even Ricko would find that coin attractive.

The air must be pretty thin out there in Montana.

Could be from a 1949 Mint Set.
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
The description is “accurate” IF Charlie Browne actually made the comment claimed by the seller. Sadly , Charlie passed away a couple of years ago. He was one of the sharpest graders in the business, extremely knowledgeable and one of the nicest gentleman I’ve ever known. It’s hard for me to imagine he would have made such a comment about that coin.

I think David Hall was quoted as saying it was ok. It’s easy to attribute statements to people...
Nowhere near the finest toned quarter.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

I have nicer toners I would sell for drastically less than that. Fishing on the bay with a treble hook.
If the guy who supposedly said that is no longer alive, there's no way to know for sure, is there?
I wouldn't consider it the finest toned quarter. I've seen much better posted on this forum.
From the description it is not clear to me that Mr. Browne was even talking about the coin being sold in that auction.
Pass
Good point!

Not only is it not the finest toned Washington quarter in existence, it isn't even the finest toned 1949-D Washington quarter in existence.

Negative eye appeal in my opinion.

I wouldn’t pay $100 for that coin.
Total BS.
I like the reverse of the coin but not as much as the seller does.
I knew Charlie and he was a great, honest and knowledgeable man with terrific integrity.
As for the auction listing, it is total BS, in my opinion.

While I understand that people like colorful tarnish, I do not. The obverse on that quarte is enough to make me gag, and the reverse has all the appeal of left-over pasta left too long in the refrigerator. Cheers, RickO
I would say if the obverse has that color it’s would be awesome but it’s got an ugly side!

Well, It's a coin toss for me, on one hand, I say "Not Bad" on the other hand, I say "Yucca Pew Agggg"
