@Exbrit , would you happen to know if this crypt is at Graceland Cemetery? That’s home to the infamous “ Grim Reaper” statue, along with many famous people.

The Bowers book "Virgil Brand: The Man and His Era" is a fascinating book talking about Virgil Brand and his family along with information about coin collecting and dealers during and after his lifetime. Mr. Brand began collecting in coins in 1889 and kept journals for all of his coins purchased (estimated at over 350,000 pieces) until his death in 1926. He had a large numismatic library and was active in the Chicago Numismatic Society for many years. He was a true numismatists with an unlimited budget.

Bowers and Merena had two auctions of Virgil Brand's coins. First one was in November 1983 and second one in June 1984. You can view them on the Newman Numismatic Portal. The catalogs tell all about him and his two brothers and his niece.
