Buffalo Nickel RPD???

Looking at this buffalo and the date caught my eye. Anyone else think that something is going on in the lower loop of the "8" and possibly even the upper portion too? Didnt see anything in the CPG or Variety Vista.

    It does look as if there were a previous digit there, not quite buffed out..... Needs in hand evaluation. Cheers, RickO

    Repunched dates are impossible on Buffalo nickels. Dates were not punched into individual working dies.

    It was a a hubbing error. A 1918 die was hubbed with a 1917 working hub in error. Not at all the same thing as a "repunched" date.
