Error Penny

I came across the following penny, which has a regular copper front, but a silver back of a nickel. From what I can find online, the back is earlier in issue date than the front. Anyone see this before?

  • It's not an error, but a post strike fabrication of two different coins which were glued or somehow joined together. It has no value.

  • Thanks. What strike?

@knixknation.... Welcome aboard.... The coin is a fabrication, two coins joined together... You can usually split them apart with a knife edge applied to the joining seam.... or, if just joined with glue, soak it in acetone for a couple of hours.... Cheers, RickO

It's called a magicians coin. The trick was to change a cent into a nickel and vice versa.
