Ever open one up? >:)
My friend cracked open a new slab and gave me the insert. I had to see this.
Really cool:
it’s a sticker on both sides

I didn't realize the new slab chips were so large and complex. :oB)

What does this chip do? Authenticate a genuine coin? coin info? tracker? That sure is a large chip....is that wrap-around maze- like wire an antennae?

It brings up the cert # on a mobile device for verification, and is an anti-counterfeiting device. Some of the newer fake slabs are getting VERY convincing.

MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.

That's a nice looking coin from what I can see around the sticker.

Why would our host flip out? The slab counterfeiters have already checked out these new slabs. Whether they can counterfeit them or not remains to be seen.

Interesting... I was wondering about the internal details. Similar to credit card devices. Cheers, RickO

I'd be interested to see if they pull it off, faking the chips and them working

When did PCGS start doing this? You say new slabs, how new? I’ll assume they only do this on the gold shield slabs, correct?
    Thank you in advance.

Are the coordinates made available to the scanner or the public at large?

Simple RFID. Custom label and you “print” the info onto that metal piece.

    Will help but easily reproduced.
