Ever open one up?
My friend cracked open a new slab and gave me the insert. I had to see this.
Really cool:
it’s a sticker on both sides

Interesting...
I thought you found one of these:
I didn't realize the new slab chips were so large and complex.

What does this chip do? Authenticate a genuine coin? coin info? tracker? That sure is a large chip....is that wrap-around maze- like wire an antennae?
Well, there's something you don't see everyday. LOL Thanks for enlightening us!

It brings up the cert # on a mobile device for verification, and is an anti-counterfeiting device. Some of the newer fake slabs are getting VERY convincing.
New technology is a good thing.
That's a nice looking coin from what I can see around the sticker.

Amazing and Cool in a geeky kind of way
Thank you for sharing. I wonder if our host is flipping out though 😮😮😮🤔🤔🤔
Why would our host flip out? The slab counterfeiters have already checked out these new slabs. Whether they can counterfeit them or not remains to be seen.

Yup, you know they're reverse engineering that gizmo as we speak. It'll be interesting to see when the first fake coin in a fake chipped holder is discovered. Bet it's a trade dollar. Peace Roy

Interesting... I was wondering about the internal details. Similar to credit card devices. Cheers, RickO

When did PCGS start doing this? You say new slabs, how new? I’ll assume they only do this on the gold shield slabs, correct?
Thank you in advance.

Are the coordinates made available to the scanner or the public at large?
Simple RFID. Custom label and you “print” the info onto that metal piece.
