I got this a couple of months ago after searching a long time for a lustrous shield nickel. They just don't seem to be super common. It's not a series I specialize in but it sure seems nice. It has a lot of cool die cracks and such going on.
**Update: it is indeed graded 64. Although I keep thinking it would upgrade to 65 on reconsideration.

Gem plus.
Hmm, I’ll guess the grade on that old holder says 64, but would be a 5 or 5+ nowadays. Very attractive shield nickel regardless!
Yes, well used dies on that one. I'll go 64 perhaps 65 if all the luster is there.

I’ve seen a lot of dull shield nickels out there. Is 1883 known to be a good luster date? This one has really good luster to my eye.

My 1883 in my Dansco is dull, but it’s been in there over 30 years, purchased when I was in a much lower tax bracket. No sense upgrading it at this point lol!
65
That is a very nice shield nickel.... Good luster even.....I would go 64, maybe 65. Die cracks on both sides.... Cheers, RickO
65 maybe better.
I'll post the grade later tonight or in the morning. But some good guesses so far!
