Some say PCGS refers to this as a Silvered 'Dime'. Personal I have not seen it stated anywhere.
.
It is a 1803 Tkn $2.5 J-C1803-2 Kettle & Sons Gaming Token, Birmingham, Eng. Silvered brass or silver. I dont think they have been weighed or checked out with certainty. Anywho........I was thinking about submitting mine to our hosts and wondered what it might grade. I only have one that PCGS has graded for comparison.
.
US Patterns has it on their site here

Hey, that's cool!
Yours is better than the PCGS one.
That's nice!
Wow! I like it!
very nice, but what's the yellow in the top loop of the 8?
.
.
Maybe the brass showing. I always that these were gilded not solid silver.

Are these out there in the wild? I have yet to see a single example for sale. Really a neat find. Details?

These and the others I have posted are Kettle tokens made in Birmingham England.
Just like much of our first coinage comes from England a good amount of early tokens are kettle made.
There are many half and quarter eagles out there as most were used for gaming tokens.
The small $2.5 were made in very small quantities and didn’t wear very well, as most all Kettle tokens.
To find any above vf is a find. To find a $2.5 is almost never seen and comes to auction only once in a while

Very cool! Yours is definitely sharper struck or an earlier strike maybe.
Very nice Stef.... I really know nothing about the Kettle tokens.... Thanks for the information and the link. Cheers, RickO
Very Nice!
Thanks everyone. Since I don’t hear any detrimental remarks I guess I was right
in feeling this will straight grade as I don’t see any wipe marks, cleaning or tooling.
I’m going to guess at AU55 or 58.
I’ll post the grade when I get it back.
