A picture would be nice. 🙂
Are you sure it's not a wore out quarter?
I found a 1965 that i think was clipped but it to has no edgeing.
Interesting.
The reeding was worn away. Older coins that have seen heavy use in casinos and vending machines can look like this. Also, coins can get stuck between the fixed and rotating drums of a dryer and can wear due to the tumbling
Regardless of the cause, its just damage. It was probably recommended in a older post that you start learning about the minting process if you're going to search for errors. Here is a goid site

The more you know about the minting process, the less likely you'll be mistaking obvious damage for possible errors.
May have been stuck in a dryer or washer for a while.
Looks like the edges have been tapped

this the quarter I have.
Looks like it’s been smoothed to me. Probably tapped or rolled around in a dryer.

Looks as if it was 'spooned'. That is, tapped around the circumference with a spoon.... we did that when I was in the Navy on silver coins to make a ring. That one has only been mildly tapped. Cheers, RickO
The weigh determined that it must have been rubbed. 5.65g
Thanks for your thoughts on this topic.
Slightly smaller diameter, higher than normal rims....washing machine, spooned, or slot machine.
I have that one but no mint mark
