Exciting Upgrades to my Irish Shilling set! Grades just in!

Back in February I went to the Dublin coin show in Ireland and seemingly years later I have grades on those three coins haha.

This was just a nice coin I decided to pick up. I do have to say I am not a huge fan of the photos because they really don't show how nice and chocolate the surfaces are. Grade is very close to what I expected. XF40

This coin was the priciest coin I had bought up until I picked it up and it continues to be the priciest coin I have bought haha. Very happy with the grade, just half a grade from being tied for top pop but I can't say I am disappointed. Grade about where I expected. MS64+

This one was a point of contention as almost everyone I shared photos of thought it was AU which I was aghast at. Very happy with the grade. I was guessing MS63 and was gifted a full point bonus! I also sold my AU58 I had in anticipation of this one grading higher and I am glad I didn't end up regretting it. MS64

Really happy with the results. Really tough series and I am still totally lost for a nice 1937 and my 1930 is my last lowly AU58.

Hope y'all enjoy.

Congratulations on your results. The description of each coin and your thought process was really interesting to read in that most of the time we all think similarly when grading a coin before purchasing.

One of the best reasons not to sell at auction is so I know who to bug when I get the itch to own it again!

That's a great idea haha. Keep your friends close and their coin collections within purchase distance.

Just be glad that for the most part I just do Irish/Northern Irish banknotes and not so much in coins, unless they are 17th century and before.

It's crazy because I know very few Free state Irish silver collectors. Maybe me plus 2 people on this forum? And yet there's tons of them bidding against me haha.

I love the Saorstat coins because of the script on them, but for some reason I really like the banknotes - particularly the "all-Ireland issues from 1922-1928 - fascinating because they were commercial bank issues that circulated in two countries.

Back in the 1980's I wrote the mint in Sandyford and got a pricelist that still included the original green packaged 1928 coin sets. Kick myself for not buying one.
