A 1916p Buffalo. GTG please
Picked this famous date up recently. Can you guy's give me an idea what grade this might be, thanks. Also, the woodsy appearance? Is this just toning, maybe? What exactly is this called? ![]()

Raw is the grade
I agree raw is the grade
AU 55
AU53,,, maybe 55 in hand....Cheers, RickO
The streaks are from inconsistent alloy mixture. I would think grade is in the 45-50 range.

I grade it $20
Nickels: contain 75% copper and 25% nickel so sometimes the copper alloy "Bleeds" a little bit! you see it a lot on "Buffs" some is more attractive than others.
Outside vendors for the mint produced these Poorly mixed alloys. Some are extremely ugly and other not so much.
I see the grade as 45-50. I also see a lot of tiny hits all over the Buffalo could also be damaged.
Yeah, I agree, Joe. Like you gave my coin a 45-50 grade, like others before you, as well. I checked some TV grades in that same grade that you guy's gave my coin. My coin surely doesn't measure up to those TV grades of 45-50. Their's are so much prettier. Lol. Thanks brother.

Looks like an AU50 or 53 from a standpoint of wear. But it has a couple of significant scratches on the reverse.
