I'm on the memorial's donor list https://eisenhowermemorial.gov/donors

Post your Eisenhower coins, medals, tokens, etc...

I do not own this, but I wanted to share its existence.

Very nice.... and having the letter as part of it adds significance. I know this used to happen, probably still does, but to what extent is, I believe, unknown outside of the office of the mint director. Cheers, RickO

That is an outstanding presentation item, although the coin itself looks pretty nasty. It is interesting that the mint did not arrange a plastic capsule for it. I guess that was back in the days when hard plastic cases for proof sets, etc. were still only a few years old.

It is interesting that she called it the "Eisenhower silver dollar". I would have called it the silver version of the Eisenhower dollar.

I recall that on those days it became a bit controversial to call Ikes "silver dollars". I recall that someone sued a car dealer who promised a glove compartment full of silver dollars with every new car, and he was using Ikes. A judge (obviously not a coin collector) ruled in the car dealer's favor.

To put it all in perspective, less than 10 years before the Eisenhower Dollar was minted, real silver dollars were still floating around, not really circulating but still selling at face value when encountered at stores, banks, etc. Sort of like Ike dollars today. :D
