Hey everyone. Just picked up this little beauty today. Its an 1878 Rev 78 Morgan with Short Nock.
I've read through the different varieties here: http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/wiki/1878-P_VAMs and I see a few that seem to match up in one way or another with my coin.
The doubling on the I in PLURIBUS and the matching crack pattern on the reverse leads me to believe it is Vam-100.
Any VAM pros able to help me out? Thanks so much

Try Vam 197 see if it is a match.
I think you nailed it. The missing feather seals it. Thanks so much good sir
The extra "Thanks" via PM was very nice!
You're a class act and an outstanding member here....Thank You!
I do not collect VAM's, but I like reading about them here.... sometimes, when the Morgan discussed is one I have, I go and check mine.... have not found one so far...Cheers, RickO
@ricko
I'm sure you have heard it before that all Morgans are Vam's.
All you need to do is grab one you have and post it....good chance we can figure it out.
@ifthevamzarockin.... I never thought of that....Looking at Morgan dollars, as much as I have, it seems many do not have any 'qualifying' anomalies...I could be wrong... Maybe I will try that sometime... Interesting idea...Wow, maybe I have a VAM and don't even know it...
Cheers, RickO
Do it! Let's have some fun!
