OK... pictures are dark and a tad blurry... Is it a gold nugget? Not used to seeing one so black....try rinsing it off....If it does not rinse, then likely something else...gold does not tarnish. Cheers, RickO
I thought the same but seen some black ones on other forums and was told collectors like the tarnish and not to clean it. WHEN I TOOK IT TO BE TESTED THEY TRIED TO GIVE ME $60 LOL😅

What is it?
It's ugly but it's gold
I talked to a jeweler here local and he said clean it. How it would happen to be in the middle of nowhere he believes it is smelted gold.
What is the weight and widest diameter? We appreciate close up, sharp images to examine. Might it be a gold cap from a tooth? What do you think it is? Peace Roy

It is strange and weighs 8.6 grams. It appears to be smelted piece of gold. I will post a picture when it is clean.

Found that stuff in the back yard lol.

What did the detector meter say it was?
Still waiting for the jeweler to test it. I used a cheap National Geographic detector. My understanding Gold or metals of value could show up as trash. So I dug on all signal there was something.
The anticipation is building....Like that old ad of a woman waiting to get into a sale....(Open, open, open)....Test it, test it, test it....

Well he finally tested it and said "It's Not Gold" . BUMMER. He doesn't know what it is. Sorry Everyone. I was excited lol.
