Few details, on lower leg not ankle, actual size is about same as Morgan, 1970 is her birth year...

Did you get it as a 50th birthday gift to yourself? Very nice tattoo that's a good portrayal of a Morgan dollar. B)

My guess is that it won't grade. Might want to do a "Walk Through" just in case.

Not bad for an artist who likely is unfamiliar with Morgan Dollars.

I guess a 1970 Morgan tattoo looks better than a 1979 Ike tattoo

I'm guessing that's her birth year and she got the tattoo to celebrate her 50th birthday.

She took a coin for artist to look at, took 6 hours, photo doesn’t do it justice, full liberty clear. Etc

That is a nice looking tattoo the artist did. They did a nice job of it with the details on the coin.

As she gets older it will be considered a crusty, original!

But it may be covered in adjustment (stretch) marks! She could nickname it "sagging liberty."

Years in the Navy, world travels, and associated bad associations...I never did get a tattoo...Actually took a buddy to a tattoo parlor for his tattoo once... Just never wanted one. Probably would not get a coin tattoo though....Though the one in the OP seems well done... Cheers, RickO

Reminds me when my wife wanted her first ink and I took her to Lyle Tuttle in SF. He had a display of old ink on donated human skin sections. Very interesting to say the least. Peace Roy

Got it 6 years ago, still looks pretty decent. People ask me about it and what it means. I tell them it's the reverse of a Morgan dollar, then I go on and tell them about the 13 arrows, the olive branch, the 8 tail feathers and George T. Morgan. It has landed me some small coin collections, plus it's my series.

Just got back home from a weekend at the beach. Without going into detail, my on site observance leads me to conclude that tattoo artists have a very up close and personal working arraignment with the ladies.

The girl who does my tattoos doesn't mind it. Her wife though, might.

It's close but not all there yet, some subtleties need to be ironed out IMO. My suggestion is take this line drawing from an old ANA grading standards book and have it touched up. Maybe mark it up with pen first to make sure.
