The coin just does not look right. It has an overall mushy look that 1909 Lincolns did not have. I also think I have seen photos of a similar coin in another thread. I would advise returning it for a refund.
If you saw some of the photos in another thread here, I stated that I had first posted them in a Counterfeit Silver Dollar thread, just a couple of days ago!
But, assured that every single picture above is mine! I spent a lot of time today with inferior equipment to get them and get them in that order.
Thank You For Your Feedback!
I saw the photos more than a few days ago. It may have been a similar piece or maybe even the same coin.
Thanks for the feedback.
I've had the coin near two weeks now, and this forum is the only place I've posted pictures of it so far, and the pictures I have of it I took.
One thing for sure you folks have a keen eye for details.
No doubt your coin has been altered.

Your the first to mention "Altered" rather than counterfeit.
In the OP the reason I bracketed the date and the mint mark was to try to identify the die set used between the 09 svdb and the 09 s. I was trying to break it down to the possibility of the svdb being a real 09 s with an added v.d.b on the reverse, making it an altered coin.
The date and the mint mark locations were (to me) so spot on, I was thinking an altered real coin.
I did question some details in the material folds in the coat across the chest area.
Others here so far has deem the whole da** thing a fake.
If I thought it was a genuine 09S at lest it wouldn't be a counterfeit.
Thanks Pete for your observation!
Another vote for fake/counterfeit.

As someone else had mentioned, I also don't like where the fields meet the rim or where the portrait meets the fields. Looks like mushiness from the making of a transfer die.
MarkW: you came to the right place to learn. Your attitude is positive and you will learn a lot because of it. Glad to see you are willing to listen! Also, I want to echo what Mr Feld said earlier. The seller can't pass title to you on a counterfeit. He is going to have to give you your money back. If not, you can get the secret service or other law enforcement involved. Others here will be able to provide the best advice on this if it comes to it. Hopefully you will be refunded with no issues.

Okay, Again! (from memory)
Mfeld at one point wished he could see a better picture of the serifs on the mint mark, well with my kidish (I know that's not a real word, but I like how it sounded) equipment, stacks of magnifying glasses, outdated pocket digital camera, makeshift lighting I posted the best I could get.
Well, being the problem solving person I am I decided to call in a favor from NASA knowing they were working on a prototype 2 Hubble Telescope and ask them if I could barrow it for a few hours and they rushed it right over to me
We all agree that this coin is as phony as serving bologna for a "Steak" dinner.
So, before we draw the final curtain and lay Mr. Lincoln to rest (again) allow me to present to you a Hubble Telescope view of the.................(drum roll)..............**S **
Now to bracket in the mint mark I had to do a slight CCW rotation of the coin for this shot (at lest I didn't go for a head shot)
I want to thank everyone here for their input, its been very insightful for sure.

Don't confuse yourself with "Altered"
You can put lipstick on a pig.....but it's still a pig.
Your coin is counterfeit.
I recommend only buying 1909 S VDBs that are slabbed & certified by NGC or PCGS.
Before there was either of these two there was ANACS. ICG is fine too.
