I didn't need another 1822 Capped Bust half. But I "needed" this one! Also, grade posted.

This is one of the looks I like on old silver coins, sort of that cameo pewter look, with luster that screams thru the stars. It has original skin too; I'm sure a dip would really make the luster scream more, along with me! I don't know the Overton variety, but I'm wondering what is going on with the S in States on the reverse? Maybe the die was about to give out?
Just for fun guess the grade on this one and I'll post it now - PCGS XF-45 with a green bean. It does have a good amount of luster for a 45, especially on the reverse.

Nice coin. I'll guess XF45.
I like the look, Erik. Very wholesome.
O.115, if it matters.
STAT in STATES is sometimes weak, opposite the high point of Liberty's drapes, as you know. But that doesn't seem to be an issue with this die marriage. Something filled the die, I'd guess. I don't think it has to do with the die cracks. Just guessing.
XF45 is a good guess.
Lance.
Strong AU. Sweet coin! Love the luster and strike.
I'll guess AU53. A great look, and I have always liked the shape of the number 2's on these.
Great looking 1822, Erik!
I’ll guess AU50.

Nice coin... looks like something got on the die to blot the S.... Nice die cracks on the reverse... 45 seems right. Cheers, RickO
I like that a lot. AU53 is my guess.

I'm in the AU state of mind. A lot to like in this coin. Filled die, die break, great hair detail. Peace Roy

I'll go AU53. Nice luster.
I'm thinking 50. Looks 45 detail wise but more than enough luster to qualify as a AU.
Beautiful coin.
It's a tweener between 45 and 50
Sweet coin, AU50. Also, can one really have too many 22's?

Nice coin. Though it could be debated whether it's original skin or not.
Would not dip it. Don't think it would come out looking "better" or more blazing. A lot more light marks that are currently under patina, would show up. About 10-20% luster remaining.
it looks like an au 50. fwiw
A beautiful deuce deuce👍
I very much like the looks of that beautiful piece. Looks AU to me but if, Lance says it’s XF-45 I’ll go along with that.
Excellent addition 👌
