Another thing happened. The Bears announced Trubisky would be the starting QB for the season opener.
They also announced, 'Why in hell didn't anybody tell us to draft Mahomes or Deshaun Watson ahead of this guy!'

did i give you permission to crack Bears jokes around here?

that would be my job amigo

galaxy- There was one analyst on NFL network who is expecting a very good season
from Trubisky. I don't know his name but he may be right it might be too soon to
give up on him. We'll see. Just another great story line for the upcoming season along
with Brady in Tampa, how Joe Burrow will perform in Cincy, if the Chiefs can repeat. etc.
Looking forward to some Thursday night football next week!! B)

If they pull Trubisky at any time this year and replace him with Foles his career in Chicago is over. The amount of pressure on him now is huge. Every bone head play, every interception he will be looking over his shoulder at the $7.5 M backup. Foles is in the perfect position again. His comfort zone as a backup.
On another Chicago note who looks like the genius now in the Khalil Mack trade? Everyone was blasting Gruden for trading away him. 7 sacks and 47 tackles. Raiders got 2 1sts and a 3rd and 6th. I’m thinking Chuckie was smarter than we gave him credit.

I sure hate to call the first game of the season a must win game. But if the Eagles don't beat the Redskins, or whatever the yell they are called now, then the Eagles are in some early trouble, possibly serious trouble.

No reason to worry about the first game. The Eagle beat Washington handily. It won’t be long before Washington realizes Haskins is not an NFL QB and Alex Smith is named the starter.

I'm sure a lot of you can agree, it doesn't feel like it's about to start. No preseason. Such little video content etc.

So one week before the season and Earl Thomas still hasn’t signed. Are the two strikes against him too much? Is the locker room cancer too much? Thoughts?

I think he goes unsigned for a few weeks to humble him, thats if a team is contemplating signing him it that is. Poor play is something that a lot of teams can think outside the box on, different scenery ect... but to be a straight up idiot and have the entire team back the management showing him the door is a different animal all together. If the guy is a jerk then screw him, nobody will want that

The regular season starts tomorrow. This is the most subdued I’ve ever see this board. Dont care. I have many loves in my life and Bills football is one since I was 7. Go Bills!

Joe you know I’m a Pats fan 100% but this year will be an off year for a number of reasons. Mainly I’m ashamed at the way the franchise has gone about operations. I’m 75/25 on Brady being let go, 75% I’m ok with it and understand why Brady wanted out. I think the Newton signing was pretty good but the fact remains the same that if Brady can’t win with just Edelman then nobody else will. I want this year to blow up in Bills face. That’s why I’m not all pumped up about the Pats. I am excited about the NFL this year as usual though, I’m actually going to enjoy it as a whole without stressing about the Pats winning it. Best of luck with Bills, I really mean it. I wouldn’t mind seeing them or the Brady led Bucs win it.

I've been keeping tabs on this because i've got nothing else better to do. This is Perkdog's 967th attempt to reverse-jinx the upcoming Patriots season into a Super Bowl championship.

I'm pumped. Looking forward to seeing how Clyde Edward Helaire will perform for the Chiefs.
Also I think they need to get Mecole Hardman the ball more often.
Defensively they really improved the last half of the year in 2019 so hoping the improvement continues.
Signing Chris Jones to anchor the line was huge, he is a disruptive force on almost every play.
Just hope the Chiefs stay healthy, is they do they're the team to beat.
The Texans' will be a great test tomorrow, Deshaun is one of my favorite QB's.

I am not going to let all the hooo-haaah lessen my enjoyment and for the love of all things holy I need weekend outings with friends and cigars and adultness instead of lockdown and hypocrital BS from everywhere.

Add: Falcons beat brady both games, c-note bet if interested taker.

The weirder thing is there is no guarantee of playing a full season.

i mean if the corona virus starts spreading like wild fire in NFL locker rooms, you know in today's snowflake society, that they would put a halt to the season.

It's uncharted waters, we shall see what happens.

Nice win to start the season for the Chiefs.
Edwards-Helaire looked great replacing Damien Williams.
I think the Chiefs went pretty conservative this first game with the play calling probably to
instill some early confidence but they should open it up in the coming games.

  • stevekstevek Posts: 29,019 ✭✭✭✭✭

Kinda interesting the Chiefs coming off a nice Super Bowl win with a bright future, first game of a new season at home, and before the game the fans were booing quite harshly.

I hope the NFL bosses heard the boos. That's all i'm going to say.

@stevek Heard Zach Ertz talking today. Sounds like he believes he either gets a new contract or plays somewhere else next. Didn’t sound like there was much wiggle room. He certainly deserves more money but Philly has got some huge contracts already. Thoughts?

He's still got two years left on his current contract.

Ertz should shaddap and play football.

He should worry more about the NFL ratings being down 16% over the opening game last season.

Can't wait to see the Tampa Bay- Saints game.
Will Brady finally start playing like an old grandpa whose dentures fell out after the first hit
or will he be able to retain that Brady magic at least one more year.
My guess is he will feel rejuvenated in Tampa and have a really good year.
Don't know much about the Bucs so can't say if they will be a Super Bowl contender
but a Chiefs-Bucs matchup sounds good to me.

The Bucs are loaded with talent both on offense and defense. Too bad this game wasn’t week 4 because I think it will take a few weeks for Tampa’s offense to get on the same page. They will be fighting for a playoff spot and possibly the division. Should be for to watch Brady make the playoffs and BB watch from his couch.

Game day is here! My week 1 Predictions.
Chargers game will be low scoring.
    Buffalo easily beats the Jets.
Patriots-Miami will be much closer than though and Miami just might pull the upset in a low scoring affair.

And my Falcons stunk it up fairly well yesterday, although I saw a few glimmers of hope and I think Gurley will be a good addition. Jones/Gage should be an entertaining duo as well.

No pre-season games definitely showed the effect yesterday across the whole league...everybody looked pretty rusty.

Time and time again the Falcons have burned me going back to the collapse in the Super 51 when I laid $10 at 150-1.
Last year I wagered $100 on them winning over 9 games. They have joined Tampa Bay as a never pick again team.

If Denver wins tonight the AFC West will be undefeated after week 1.

How often has that happened in the past?

Further, what is the longest period of time an entire division remained undefeated? (I would think week 2 at the most).
