68' Champion Corn Flakes mystery

Where did these cards originate? Does anyone have a picture of a box of Corn Flakes they originated from? They are a mysterious set.

WARNING: I do not own these cards, they are strictly for viewing pleasure!!

    This is an interesting set and I believe there is still a fair amount of unknown. The images, I believe, are the same as those used on the Sports Illustrated posters of the same era.

    Just a guess on the numbering system...

    Number - Card number in series, AFL or NFL
    A = AFL
    N - NFL
    Number - Uniform number

    This is a fascinating set, and it is a mystery. It has to be one of the all time great sets in the hobby. The only thing I could find about Champion Corn Flakes is this advertisement. This was an advertisement in a newspaper in India. Perhaps the cards were on these boxes at some point. It's a fascinating mystery.

    They look like something you might have cut off one of those SI posters back in that time frame, the one that showed all the various players. There is a baseball poster that has little images very similar to that. Can't say I have seen a football version and that would not explain the Cornflakes connection. I know there is a Cornflakes baseball set, but they look different.

    I collect Steve Garvey, Dodgers and signed cards. Collector since 1978.

    The cards have little perforation tabs along the edges. Looks like they could have been removed from something. I don't know...
