Hmmmm. If things got bad, there are plenty of things I'd worry about before coins came to mind. They're hopefully in a safe place, but they're on their own. That's what insurance is for.
Doesn't look so bad when the picture was taken. Did it touch down?
I would grab my wife and dogs.... and maybe my metal detector to look for the coins later. Cheers, RickO
No touchdown

I’ve been through living hell with a fire that wiped my town off the map. Trust me when I say the last thing I worried about were my coins. In fact I left the lion share of my coins in a safe and had to run for our lives, I lost many, many coins. Coins can be replaced. The lives of my family and my dogs can not.
I am and will be forever thankful to PCGS and to the good people here on this forum that helps us out.
It will never be forgotten, ever.
From the bottom of my heart I say thank you to all❤️❤️
My southern gold and the fish tray would have to go along.

That's cool. It looks like an arcus cloud and this one might be known as a roll cloud within that group. These are unusual cloud formations and I don't recall seeing one "in person".

Having grown up in California I have a well founded fear of fire. The Oakland Hills fire in 1991 was just too close for comfort. I owned property in the foothills there until 2005 and had firebreaks cut every spring - but some of the surrounding ranches didn't bother - which still endangered my property. When I was a kid I lived in Marysville/Yuba City area and we would spend a lot of weekends up in Paradise - the fish hatchery up there was a good memory.
The first thing I'd grab in the way of coins would be my "Herd of 45" Buffalo nickels, which includes my proofs and major varieties.
Well, that’s uncommon for Massachusetts!
If I had only seconds or minutes to evacuate I don’t think any coins would make the list. Does make me think about having a plan for what to take though.

For those of us who live in the North Pacific could someone explain to me what we are looking at with that cloud picture?
Thank you!
IMHO the living are far more important then coins and such which can be replaced
it's called a twister and those are deadly if they touch down depending on the size they can cause massive damage and kill many

If you are prepared and have a plan, you can save your family and your coins if you wish.
Failure to plan = Failure to execute.

did you take that picture? wow! we aren't in Kansas anymore.
Doesn’t look like a tornado or even a funnel cloud to me. More like a wall cloud (murus cloud) or arcus cloud as @TomB has said. They can be associated with tornadoes.
For a few years I lived just up the street from the minor-league baseball Worcester Tornadoes’ ball field. Twister, the mascot, gave my kids a bunch of stuff and had them playing games on the field between innings.
I spent many years in Woosta.............................Worcester, MA is the second largest city in New England.
PS They are building a new stadium for the Paw Sox in Worcester, it's under construction.

Unfortunately I'm currently living about 7 miles as the crow flies from an 80,000+ acre wildfire in N. CA. Having lived through a significant wildfire event before, I know they can move 7+ miles an hour depending on the wind. FWIW, I'm currently about 1 - 2 miles from a mandatory fire evacuation zone, and it's been getting closer over the last few days.
I'm sure many of you have heard tell of the 6 p's. I don't want to post the phrase here as I don't want to ruffle any feathers, but basically it has to do with planning. Various of you above were wondering what to bring out with you in case of evacuation. It turns out that there are a 6 P's for wildfire evacuation. They are...
People and pets,
papers, phone #'s and important documents,
prescriptions, vitamins and eyeglasses,
pictures and irreplaceable memorabilia,
personal computer, hard drive and disks,
plastic (credit cards etc.) and cash.
The fire started August 17 courtesy of the dry lightning storm that set off so many fires in N. CA. As such, starting about the 19th I had to figure out what to remove from my house in case of evacuation. My most valuable coins are in a bank SDB so that was not an issue. For space memorabilia, by value, the most important parts are in the SDB too.
Luckily I have family that lives within a half hours drive from here, in an area that is at a relatively low likelihood of being burned down by these fires. The first things that actually left the house, even though they have no monetary value, were the photo albums from when my kids were growing up.
I live alone, so no pets or other people to worry about. FWIW, the first thing I did was back up my personal computer, so I had all the data on assorted thumb drives. Then I packed a go bag with 5 days worth of clothes, and put the thumb drives, my prescriptions, cash and some important papers in it.
I have a lot of signed space pictures on my walls. It has been an interesting intellectual/personal issue to figure out which were the ones I most wanted to save. To put it mildly, figuring these items out has really sucked. I pulled as many of them down as I could get out in a sudden evacuation. Many of the technically more valuable are still on the walls, but the ones I've picked/kept are ones that have personal meaning to me. Anyhow, these pictures are lined up on a wall near my car in case I need to shove them into it and get the heck out of here.
