Hmmm. Obverse color is known from Mint sets of the era, but has a odd and non typical look. Proofs I dont know. eye catching. Reverse negative eye appeal toning and a couple of minor milk spots. Looks DCAM to me
That would not be something I would gamble on. Even when I was building a toned 1950-1964 proof set a few years ago, I would not have gambled on it. The photos do not show a properly photographed toned proof and leaves a ton to wonder about. If there is a return policy from a reputable seller or a return policy that you can leverage via eBay, then maybe it's worth the gamble depending on the price paid? I see too much unattractive carbon spotting, besides the unattractive toning to go with the attractive toning for my liking. It is hard to say what else might be hiding. As for the attractive toning, there does seem to be a bit of that but how much is another question.

Is it raw or slabbed?
It is both attractive and repulsive at the same time. To me it falls into the Novelty category.
My interest in the coin would be to see it in hand to assess the level of frost on the devices, the quality of the devices and whether the toning is of the type that can be removed with a dip.

What are they selling it as and how cheaply? There are plenty of nice '59s out there to be had that would be more reliable. Could you get more pics from them in different lighting?

Looks to have a good chance to get at least a cameo designation after a dip, which is difficult for a 1959. I wouldn't personally pay for the toning as I see it as a significant detraction from what appears to otherwise be a pretty good coin. I'd personally probably venture $50 based upon the photos, but probably not much more.
This coin would be much easier to buy than to sell. Much, much easier.
I ventured 50 bucks on the coin to see if it is Cam or Dcam.

Obverse MA-market acceptable, reverse bad.
You could do a one-sided dip. Cameo coin.
I wouldn't give that coin a second look.

1959 Frankies are pretty expensive and hard to find in Cam or Dcam. Depending on the price, I would take a chance on it, dip the questionable toning away and try to get it slabbed.

That spatter type toning is very distracting to me... can't rule out AT. That being said, does look like some decent frost and contrast. somewhat risky whether you can dip the toning off...?
dependent on price, i'd buy that coin all day long. at the very least i'd somehow pick off those white specs causing spots. may dip just the rev. that pic doesn't really rep what it will look like in-hand. do please keep us updated with this one if it goes anywhere. @Fairlaneman

Looks borderline CAM. For about $20 in downside risk, it doesn't seem like an unreasonable gamble to me. OTOH, I wouldn't be expecting to win the bet.
Id imagine those spots on obverse are pock marks from pvc.

I think the obverse is kinda pretty.
Save your money. That spot on the obverse on the back of head is corrosion and will not dip off.
Dip it and see what happens.
$50 will just be the start of expenses on that coin even if it does dip out well ... which is no certainty.
Actually, I'd try MS70 first and then dip if it doesn't look presentable.

I think it was an AT coin all the way and you get an A- in "coin conservation" for the results you obtained. I view it as PR65+ because of the reverse but no way Cameo, the fields are just not mirrored enough, especially the obverse. also, 20% chance of no-grade, ED.

You should never have dipped it. Post dip it's awful IMO.
It wasn't a ravishing beauty to begin with. I think the net effect is neutral. As a plus, it removed the AT which may have continued to react.
Based on those pics I think he came out ahead. I feel like the coin probably looks like what it actually is now, instead of having to guess what’s going on.
I would have left it alone. I liked the face on the full moon on the right side of the yoke. Cute little guy.
The after looks unattractive. I am surprised the dip removed the toning and spots on the reverse.
Maybe further treatment will improve the obverse. As
