It looks like the privy-marked ASE with the 75,000 mintage will be coming out November 5 also. I wonder if there will be more or less chaos than the day that the 2019-S enhanced reverse proof ASE was released?

Why are there 2 product codes? Are there proof and business strikes being released on different dates?

Does anyone know where the US Mint’s servers are located? I assume you have a 1-3 second advantage if you are closer to them versus in CA.

The seconds will make the difference in whether you get a coin or just locked up.

I'll try for the gold coin, I'll fail to get one, and I'll be angry at the mint all over again. :/

    Great marketing plan. :|

Silver and gold same date and time release?

Is the 24K coin a different commemorative? I've seen little about it or the available mintage of the 24K coin

  • morgansforevermorgansforever Posts: 8,461 ✭✭✭✭✭

Appears both the silver and gold version will be released on the 5th of Nov. at noon, should be loads of fun trying to get through checkout. I'll take a gold version 50% off center, then I can retire :)

Price has been set at $2,400 even. Check that. Price already went up to $2,650.

From the gold price grid, it appears to be a 1/2 Oz Eagle (see 3rd item from the end, right after the special privy Eagle)

The chances of getting either one at issue price will be slim. Suely networks of buyers have already begun. Not a network guy but is there a way to prioritize an IP address and jump the line so to speak, guaranteeing you get through checkout and obtain one or both?

I will be in line for the ASE...Would like to add that to my collection. And, checking the date, I will not be working that day (per my schedule at this time )....I will at least make the attempt. Cheers, RickO

Any time wasted in a hopeless attempt to get the gold privy will probably insure you'll miss out on the silver privy. Not going to be time for both, that's for sure. Everyone will need to decide.

I'll try for the silver. The bot software will gather most of the gold.

Heh, why pay $1950 for an ounce of modern gold bullion when you could pay $2650 instead? Crazy world we live in.

  • morgansforevermorgansforever Posts: 8,461 ✭✭✭✭✭

Irrelevant what the price is, these are all spoken for, dealer and collector networks are in place, ready to pounce. You have a better chance of not getting one, than actually getting it into your cart and checking out. 2 minute sell out for both versions.

When is the mint going to price these coins?

The Mint should have done a lottery and pull random email addresses, most of the gold will be in the hands of a few.

Totally meaningless. I could post a presale for $100,000. Unless it's one of the big boys with a guarantee it's just fishing for idiots.

I think pre-sales can be great for both parties. I don't consider it a pre-sale to send some random person $8000 who promises "IF I DO NOT OBTAIN THE COIN YOUR PAYMENT WILL BE REFUNDED"

  • MgarmyMgarmy Posts: 2,296 ✭✭✭✭✭

It’s not for me but a number of members here honored their word and offered up to 2000 ahead of the ERP release if you were able to get one and wanted to flip it. I am guessing the exact same thing will happen this time, for the gold one at least

You could say the same concerning many mintmarks on coins such as the 1909-S VDB cent or the 1901-S quarter. With coins, little things sometimes mean a lot.

    @bestday,

    Not yet.

"Pricing for precious metal numismatic products (e.g., palladium, platinum, 24-k gold, 22-k gold) varies by the average cost of the underlying metal. We use our pricing range table the week prior to sale in order to determine the product's price. If the average weekly price of the precious metal moves up or down into another cost range, the price of the product will also go up or down, respectively, by a fixed amount. You’ll find detailed pricing instructions here. [...]"

    Source: https://catalog.usmint.gov/coins/precious-metal-coins/gold/

At the time of my post, 'item number 20XE / 75th Ann. AGE Proof Coin' was column #9 of the "pricing range table" (i.e., End of World War II 75th Anniversary 22K Gold Coin).

That is for the silver. The gold is limited to a paltry 1945 mintage.

Not my style. I may be naive but have purchased a bunch from board members to finish my collection on ASE and still working the morgans so I understand the kick in the teeth of these low mintage show stoppers.

it's too late now, but the mint can be complained to "for next time." There are ways outside the 1-800 people who are just paid contractors working in Texas. ask me how to communicate, and it'll be by fax.
