Something interesting. Has this happened to you?

I recently made an appointment with a new dental office. Downloaded the application forms and filled them out. Upon arriving at the office i was told by admissions they cannot accept the paperwork, citing the fact that it came from outside their office. They were not allowed to handle paperwork from the outside. Had to transfer all my info. onto a tablet. In a coin related vein this got me to thinking about coin shows and the handling of slabs, papers, books, and the like. Has this ever been a concern to anyone here: the worry of the transference from the outside to the inside of the virus germs on material objects? Are slabs etc. to be wiped clean after handling?

    Absolutely.

I wash my hands frequently and carry a small bottle of hand sanitizer. Also, don't touch your eyes, nose, or mouth after touching a potentially contaminated surface without first thoroughly cleaning your hands.

it is a paradox of COVID-19 that the primary source of transmission is through our breathing, talking, etc. and their is very stiff resistance to wearing a mask and gathering in large crowds. at the same time there is an apparent phobia of touching anything not disinfected. it is reminiscent of the AIDS virus: people were wiping down surfaces and afraid to sit on a toilet seat outside of their own home, yet promiscuous sexual activity continued. Americans just don't like being told what to do, no matter what the cost.

to the OP's point, I don't wash my hands any more than normal, but I wear a mask religiously when in public.

No, handling things has not been a concern of mine. I take reasonable precautions when I am out of the house. I think some actions are done by businesses, etc. not out of caution but out of a desire not to be sued.

Well I’m all for being careful, but the illusion of being careful is being practiced by many who are trying to look sharp to keep their businesses open. Most of it is reasonable. Some of it is ridiculous.

I wear a mask in stores or at work. I wash my hands at appropriate times (after toilet, before eating, when dirty from work/projects). Yes, it can be a serious virus, so reasonable precautions are appropriate. Those with germ phobias will certainly be more risk averse. Businesses have other considerations. Due to age, I am at a higher risk, however, I also want to enjoy my 'golden years'. ;):D Cheers, RickO

I wash hands frequently wear mask when going like to post office. Food shopping have them bring to car. Maintain social distance. Online sales just print shipping label, package put in nearby secure outgoing mailbox. Survival mode.

Focus been research on what is selling, cost of online, and future strategy for shows when covid over. At risk activities avoided.

WW 2 killed 455k Americans, HiV has killed 700k. Covid is no joke and has potential pass those...and surpassed Americans killed in Vietnam awhile back.

We'll have to agree to disagree. Everything I've read says that a major source of infection is touching contaminated surfaces and touching your eye, nose, or mouth.

Unfortunately, we don't really know the death count from from COVID-19 because the hospitals get paid more money from the government for deaths that are COVID-19 related. It's no surprise that the numbers are skewed.
Straightforward, garden-variety pneumonia that a person is admitted to the hospital for – if they're Medicare – typically, the diagnosis-related group lump sum payment would be $5,000. But if it's COVID-19 pneumonia, then it's $13,000, and if that COVID-19 pneumonia patient ends up on a ventilator, it goes up to $39,000.

Medical and dental offices have become more computerized.

They want forms filled out online so employees do not have to transfer the information to their computers manually.

False- conspiracy theory? From your post -

Jensen said he actually believed there could be both instances of under-counting and over-counting of COVID-19 cases and deaths — but said that “if there’s an over-count it’s conceivable that that could down the road translate to increased dollars in terms of some of the recovery dollars from COVID-19.”

It is not a concerted effort to skew numbers as the genesis of this pablum alleged. This has nothing to do with coins so I am out.

  • Hospitals are in the "Business" of saving lives and making money. If you had to check a box to recieve $5,000 or check a box to receive $13,000 which one would you check? I applaud the saving lives and caring for patients part but money makes the world go round.
