I initially documented the Hawaii Statehood so called 50c low volcano and volcano varieties back in 2013. The primary marker is where the volcano's slope touches the head of the hula dancer (forehead or chin). I continued this research and it's documented in my blog. The following images speak a 1000 words ( I did cheat and added words to the images).
This is a configured die variety.
Low volcano dies.
I tested out the NGC die encapsulation service.
I'm still looking for a high volcano thin specimen.

Here’s my so called dollars from Hawaii. One is an error OHAU instead of O’ahu form statehood.
My Hawaii "49" blunder of blunders (NGC top pop). No concern needed for the ammo boxes in the background.
@DrDarryl .... Very nice.... and interesting varieties... I really like the O'ahu/Ohau error....(and ammo boxes are good, if full ) Cheers, RickO
Great info @DrDarryl! I believe I saw the dies on eBay twice, once sold for a relatively low price and once offered for a much higher price. It's fitting that these would end up with you given that you're from Hawaii!
Did you get PhotoVision photos of these pieces?
I've been researching not only McNamara pieces but major collectors of his pieces and this is great information for that effort
Nice!
Nice NGC die packaging. Did you do any impressions of the cancelled dies before you sent them in? Peace Roy
