gonna divide it up into 2 different categories.
subs that already had a spec number in the system already & those that did not which which do require research & id...
what's the record amount youve had at this stage?
and average time youve had at this stagey?
(service level economy and under)

Hard to say with complete accuracy, but I'd guess maybe 5 months at that stage and average at 3 to 3.5 months.
Over 5 months. Mine has been since March 13, 2020. No research involved...... all cards have been graded before. A mixed sub ranging from a 1933 Indian Gum to 2019 Prizm.
Afternoon,
I think your hung up on What stage the sub is in Too Much. I was told, when I called on one of mine almost 3 months ago that had gone from R & I to Assembly in like 2 days that orders do Not progress thru the Order Tracker always in the order of the Tracker and that Subs can and will be Graded Before they have finished in R & I or other steps. And other discrepancies from what we are led to believe. That order is now sitting in Assembly for 12 weeks or so now. Nobody actually believes it takes 12 weeks to Sonically Seal 91 Cards, now do they? Each area is simply a Euphemism for "What Shelf is that order sitting On!!!"
Thanks
YeeHah!

not really hung up on anything. more like i have a sub that was full of cards w/ a spec number but few that didnt. im trying to decipher for future subs if it's better to just put that on it's own sub in the future and if that was the reason it was it holding up the rest of the order.
psa has been getting progressively slower for the past 10 years. throw in a covid shut down and the emergence of all the new money & subs flowing into the hobby, ive been well prepared for amazing delays. but what are you gonna do?
i was hoping the fact that cs1s are very expensive these days and that would be slowing down subs, but its not.
only time i get hung up is when doing a super express or higher and the dates arent met. and to give credit to psa, theyve been knocking these out very, very quickly. zero hang ups there.
only other hang up would be the switch to ups, but took the hint from another board member about the po box to block the use of ups automatically and that's worked like a champ.
Agreed with the post above. If you have a bulk sub that takes 9 months now for order processing, it isn't really that relevant which stage it is in for each portion of time from that duration. Subbing cards is fun, but not if you're in a hurry.
yea. i havent even been going bulk. between the mix of vintage cards, the implementation of the "ultra modern" category which is $12 a pop & declared value, ive just been doing economy+ @ $20 a pop. sure it's $8 more, but with the way things have been moving & could possibly come crashing down, the extra $8 per is worth every penny for the shot of actually getting cards back this year. bulk timeline is absurd and only getting worse.

I think you need to specify what service level you are talking about to get a better set of answers.
I love cards, enjoy this place and I’m an occasional submitter to PSA. I’m also an avid reader here. So I think I can say this almost as a public service announcement/summary of everyone’s experience. Some are hard truths:
PSA is the biggest and most successful and respected grading company and they already had a pretty big backup. Then COVID both shut them down and when they could reopen they changed the way they have to do almost everything on the fly. Then The Last Dance hit and every Tom, Dick and Harry in America with cards in the closet fires off an order. As this is going on, USPS has its own massive Covid related issues going on (as I’d guess FedEx and UPS do, too, maybe to a lesser extent).
I hear many folks complaining that bulk and economy is taking forever; I hate to break it to you good people but that is going to be the new normal.
Bulk is going to take a really, really long time right now and maybe far into the future.
Simply put, if YOU were in charge and had a stack of 10 card express (750) and super express (1250) orders or 100 bulk orders (Best special is maybe 850), plowing through which pile generates revenue faster by being completed and shipped - which is when billing occurs. And if every service level is backed up, don’t you still have a smaller margin for error and a greater obligation on a promised higher end (two day?) turnaround?
And I should add, I have an order there now (CC Renewal) and I want it done so badly! I try to stay focused on the bright side - at least we have a place to congregate and commiserate respectfully, right?

HA! no worries.
My submission has been in research and id for many months. It was logged March 5. It is just a reholder submission which does not require research or id.

And they are going to be soooo disappointed whenever the card grades are revealed. I predict a ton of one and done memberships.
Yeah idk. I kind of came in with low expectations and was ultra critical of what I sent in. I am just getting into this grading thing - but I am doing it as a collector. I have a huge collection and its going to take me time to go through it. I suppose if I didnt have a job I may feel different - but this is a hobby for me personally. I will probably just do the quarterly specials every quarter. Maybe a few bulk submissions here and there. I have the cards to do huge submissions right now - but I kind of want to just take it slow.
Reeeaaaaallllly Sloooooooow! Lol
