It would have to be a non-U.S. coin..... So I would also like to know the oldest U.S. coin...that should be easy to identify. Cheers, RickO
They don't do ancients, but they do early Anglo-Saxon stuff. Here's a sceat from the late 7th century (Stack's Bowers picture from this auction). I imagine there might be stuff from earlier in the 7th century at the start of Anglo-Saxon coinage. Mid-5th century qualifies as ancient Roman
