Completion of a 1960s 5-Cent Wax Pack Run Project...
After more than two years of searching/bidding/dickering and a number of $$$ and with tonight's win of a 1960 PSA-7 1st series wax pack in an REA... I finally completed a 1960s Topps 5-cent wax pack run with all packs printed in the U.S.A. and 9/10 packs series designated (note the 1965 pack does not have a series designation on the label but the card on back is clearly Leon Wagner spelled out making it a 5th series pack). This will rank 2nd on the registry when I make all entries with a score of 7.571...second only to the top spot of 7.857. I will be looking at upgrading a couple packs to try and overtake the current leader in this PSA registry category. I will be holding these for quite some time. Here are the packs in my collection:
Ernie Banks/Bob Gibson Series
Series Unknown
Lou Brock RC/Carl Yastrzemski Series
Willie Mays/Yogi Berra Series
Sandy Koufax Series
Carl Yastrzemski Series
Mickey Mantle/Willie Mays/Pete Rose Series
Carl Yastrzemski Series
Tom Seaver/Rod Carew/Wille Mays Series
Nolan Ryan Series
Interesting that my most prized pack is not in this score: a 1968 PSA-8 2nd series (Nolan Ryan RC series) 5-cent wax pack:
Also...I will try and hope to cross a 1962 GAI-8.5 3rd Series (Mickey Mantle Series) 5-cent wax pack to PSA-8. Serial number is 102xxxxxx:

Awesome run!
Anyone know why the 1969s are so pricey?
Awesome job Monte and congrats on finishing the run!

That is simply an amazing collection. And how about Topps remaining steady at 5 cents per pack for an entire decade!
Sweet!
Outstanding!
I think i would pay $20 to see a pay-per-view bust of all those packs.
Congrats! Those are incredible.
I was told that on Monday, the gai registry and population report is coming out.
Beautiful. Is there a plan for a display of some sorts in their future?

I have the wax packs in a safe deposit box but can view them on Collector's Focus under:

I don't want to risk sunlight fading the coloring of the packs...so they will remain safely in darkness of a safe deposit box, not on display in my home unfortunately.
Thanks to all for the comments! My love is the artwork on the wax packs and coloring for different years. 1960s is the decade in which I started collecting baseball cards...so these packs have a special meaning to me. 1964 was the first year of buying baseball cards. Therefore...1964 is my favorite pack.
Only disagreement is my favorite is 1962.
Wow, those bring back some great memories! Used to buy packs in the 60's from the Ice Cream truck when he came around.
Amazing! Congrats as that is a serious accomplishment in the hobby.
Absolutely AWESOME! You've scored some great series of some great looking packs!! Congrats.
Congratulations! Awesome and way to accomplish your goal.
What a nice run! Awesome to see, love the artwork. Glad you hit your goal.
This is a phenomenal achievement of collecting. What a treat to see. Love the wrapper designs. And some special series packs to boot. Thanks for posting this!
Thank you very much for posting those pics. I was born in 1964 and I believe this
is the first time I've ever seen a picture of a 64 pack. I like the green and yellow!
Very nice, congrats!
Awesome run of 60 packs. Congrats, Monte!
Awesome collection. Congratulations.
Amazing! Congrats!

Awesome run! I'm missing the 1965 pack to complete my run. That seems to be one of the toughest of the decade.
gemint...
The '65 is 2nd toughest only to the '64 pack when considering only 5-cent packs and printed in the U.S.A (5-card packs only).
I am looking for a 1st series pack (Joe Morgan RC series) in an 8 to upgrade. I am a Big Red Machine fan and would like to have that pack in my collection. I know you are looking for one in an 8 too as you passed on my 7 in REA 2019 Winter Auction.
great looking run of wax packs that 1964 is so tuff i have been trying to do the same on the 60s cellos those are also tuff love the colors on the wax packs great accomplishment
Congrats, that's quite an accomplishment. '50's run next?
I found '61 the toughest of the '60's, then '69. Is '65 that tough?

I've seen many amazing unopened collections on these boards, and MacrosB's stuff is right up there with any of them.
