My new 1765 Guatemalan Pillar Dollar - Now with PCGS Grading in

Big thanks to @MrEureka for helping me to acquire what is without question the finest example of this key date issue.
The Guatemalan issues themselves are very tough in high grade and this coin is the finest extant by 14pts ahead of 2 AU50's.
Update: Graded 64+ at PCGS

That thing is just wonderful. Its imperfections are perfectly preserved.

Congratulations, it's a real looker.
When I'm in the mood to drool over coins I'll often open up your Latin American collection and find myself getting bug eyed.

Sure it is a killer coin, but I want to hear more about the ferret... There might be a movie contract in this.
Wow! Is 64 also the end of the line for Guatemalan Pillar 8Rs overall?

There is a 1762, which is a common date, in 65 from the Lissner sale. There is a 1768, most common date, in 64, and this coin, the rarest date.
This 64 has been cracked and is heading the PCGS.

Superb! I have one of those on my list to eventually acquire. Always liked a good pillar.

Me too, especially since I cracked it out! Nerve wracking to do so but limited downside as I can’t see the coin in a 63 holder, but possible as a 64+ or even a 65.

For those interested. Grade posted at PCGS as a 64+
