Yes, for the people that know me, I bet you never thought you'll be seeing those words from me. Lol. Well, couple of things. First of all, my better half and I, will be going on vacation for a week and a half. Next Tuesday, I'll be a year older! Yes, my B.D. We decided to take a trip somewhere different besides the short ride to Lake Geneva, WI. Were going to check out Galena, Il. Actually a little farther than out of state WI. So instead of spending $ on coins, we'll spend it on some R+R.

Good for you...well deserved!
@joeykoins - be sure to check out the home of Ulysses Grant while in Galena. The entire downtown area is worth a visit. We held a family reunion outside Galena in the late 80's. They were filming The Field of Dreams at the time and the nighttime scenes with Kevin Costner and Burt Lancaster were filmed in downtown Galena. We saw all the production equipment parked on the side streets during the day.
Enjoy your vacation and Happy Birthday.... I will bet you find a coin shop though.... Good luck, Cheers, RickO
Even if you don’t plan to buy, stop in on a coin shop if there’s one along the way. I’ve always enjoyed checking out how people in other places do things and think about coins. Might add some perspective for when you get back to buying.
Enjoy your trip and happy birthday!
And don't forget to look down as you walk thru the Wawa parking lot cause ya never know! Enjoy. Peace Roy

Good for you @joeykoins!
Unfortunately for my wife, my idea of R&R is going through my coins in the den with my favorite beverage. I suppose I should take her somewhere nice when it’s safer to do so.
Edited to add; Happy Birthday!

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Glad you had a good time! R&R and now back to coins!
Lol. Do you mean that by "No Crowds"? or by an actual so called, "Ghost"? Lol. Well, if it's the first meaning, many people attending. Esp. for a dull Tuesday. Not Crowded but quite busy! and if it's about some sort of Ghost rumor? Not sure? I did notice a store that was advertising about a "Ghost Tour"? Don't know what that's all about. Lol.

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line. The last time my wife and I went to Galena (about two months ago), we ate at the Paradise Bar and Grill... they didn't accept card (no sign to this effect) and I had only $19 on me... and their ATM wasn't working...
After a lengthy conversation with the manager, they permitted me to mail them a check for $38 the next day after writing down my driver's license information and phone number.
I've bought six figure coins on a handshake and they would barely allow me to leave over a plate of deep fried something.
Despite this, I do like Galena, but it makes me miss the ease of coin shows!!
I mean outside of your reflection in the window other humans seem to be absent
Glad you had fun , Happy BDay and Grant was truly a great American. One of my favorites

Only one gripe about Galena. No Starbucks! My favorite Coffee House. Funny quick story... While me and my wife were taking a brief break back to the car, I checked for the nearest Starbucks, near Galena. Guess where the closest one was? In Iowa! Yes, LMAO. but, in saying that, it was actually only 14 Miles away. So my wife and I decided, what the heck. After all, were on vacation. Also we never seen Iowa. So while driving to Starbucks, in the state of Iowa. We got the most wonderful surprise, and on my Birthday! Only 1 more mile away from Starbucks, we ran right into this huge bridge in front of us. While entering the beginning of that bridge, we seen a sign, it read, " Mississippi River"! WoW! Never seen,THEE RIVER. Lol. Beautiful sight and talking about, HISTORY. Now, If I never was so crazy about this stupid Coffee, we probably would of never seen this legendary sight? Now I love the Hawkeye State! Boy, what a BIRTHDAY to remember. A day filled with History and Beauty! LOL. Check it out.

Beautiful pictures. Thank you for posting.
Tons of pics and no wine? There is a winery there, with its vineyard just outside of town, you know.

Haha yes ghost town was a funny choice of words for Galena specifically since ghost related stuff is big business there. I did the ghost tour with some friends when there last year, it was a fun albeit gimmicky way to see the town. Great town full of history I'll be back at some point.
Sort of, but not quite. The population in the 1840s was about 4-5x what it is today, and larger than Chicago. Big lead mining town at the time. That eventually went bust, but some people stayed in the area.

Another historic Illinois town that was once bigger than Chicago is Nauvoo. Joey, you will need to add that for another driveable out-of-town venture.
Apparently sites and activities are limited this summer, but typically there are a number of restored homes, businesses to visit and multiple activities to participate in as well. Just Goggle, "What to do and see in Nauvoo."
It's been a long time since I've been to Lake Geneva and Galena - sure has changed.
A Mississippi boat ride is always fun.
There is an old city park by the river. I found some nice coins there many years ago with my metal detector. Fun little town. Lots of history
