I am new to this forum and was wondering if anyone here has seen a lamination error like this in a 1909s VDB.

Looks like surface damage to me. But that “s” doesn’t look right to me... curious what other folks have to say.
Key date coins are the exception for me when it comes to mild errors. I'd rather my 1909-S VDB be (mildly) error free.

Need a much better pic. Could be... might not be.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
Looks like it may be a struck thru.

I tried to get an angle to show the planchet flaw and how the design is in the 'crater'. Hope this helps
looks to me IMHO like a strike though

@BestestDad.... Welcome aboard... That looks more like a strike through....Cheers, RickO
I would also call that a strike through. I recently picked up an '09-S with a similar error, unfortunately there's not much of a premium for such minor errors on key date coins.

In some cases I think it actually diminishes the key coin value aspect.
